Mokuru – The New Craze? & Giveaway
There is a new craze in town, following on from the playground takeover of fidget spinners: Mokuru. A wooden desk toy crafted from beech wood, Mokuru is small and simple in its design. However, the tricks you can do with it take the fidget spinner concept to a whole new level. Would the new craze take over in our house?
What is Mokuru?
Mokuru is the new craze from Japan. It was originally designed to test focus and balance, but thanks to its addictiveness, it is now a test for dexterity, too. Not to mention your patience as you try to master the endless number of tricks you do with this small, lightweight, pocket-sized toy. Perfect to keep on your desk, or carry around in your bag, or even your pocket.
What We Think of Mokuru – The New Craze?
Having got a total of 4 fidget spinners, I was curious to see if Olivia would be able to master some tricks and see what she thinks of it. It turned out she didn’t get a look in with my nieces, who pounced on it as soon as we opened it and proceeded to take over my dining table as they taught themselves, with the help of some YouTube videos, exactly how to ‘mokuru.’
My 4-year-old niece loved it. I decided to capture her time playing with it and was surprised at how quickly she picked it up along with her older sister. She definitely didn’t want to share, but they worked well together to get up a rhythm and began passing it back and forth. My eldest niece attempted some tricks, such as moving it in a triangle and square shape on the table.
Olivia also picked it up pretty quickly. I think this may replace her fidget spinners as she learns how to master all the different tricks you can do!
After trying it myself, I found it pretty easy to pick up and managed to do a square shape pretty easily, too. It’s easy to see how it can become addictive as you try to master all the tricks and then some!
