What do you look for in a pair of headphones? When I used to go to the gym, fingers crossed I will be back there soon, I would need ones that stayed put whilst I worked out and not require me to be fidgeting with them or adjusting them as one ear would literally drop out and/or lose the sound. So annoying when you are in your groove and suddenly you lose your music.
Also, it’s become apparent that I need them at home. With disagreements over what to watch on TV with Olivia and her insistence on watching YouTube videos 24/7, one of us needs to be able to block the other out! We are like an old married couple I swear! Sitting side by side of an evening sat on my bed, me watching Grey’s anatomy yet again on my phone and her watching the newest Ingham family upload.
So when I received a couple of pairs of SoundPEATS headphones to try out, I literally thought my prayers (full on moaning) had been heard. She could have her headphones and I could have mine. Disclaimer: this is not how we are all day at home, just 99% of the time! Just kidding usually this occurs on an evening but we are in that tween stage where literally nothing will elicit more than a grunt or smidgeon of enthusiasm.
The SoundPEATS Q16 Wireless Earbuds have an RRP of £79.99, currently on offer for £31.99. The SoundPEATS B30 in-ear earbuds connect to your phone via the traditional cable should you prefer this and have an RRP of £35.99 but currently on offer for £14.99.
Both headphones come with a built in microphone function to you don’t have to worry about removing them to listen to answer a call.
Having used them both for a little while now these are my thoughts on both sets;
SoundPeats Q16 Wireless Earbuds and B30 in Ear Earbuds Review.
I have put the Q16 Wireless earbuds to the test watching my favourite show Grey’s Anatomy whilst I work. As I have seen them all so many times I don’t need to watch just listen so I loaded it up on my phone to play through whilst I worked. You have to connect them to your chosen device via Bluetooth which was initially really easy. You connect the right earpiece to your phone and then connect the left to the right for stereo sound if you want this option. They can be used individually too.
It’s worth remembering that they will need charging before your first use. I charged them fully and have used them a fair bit, as has Olivia and we’ve only charged them once since the first use.
Both of us were really pleased with the sound quality. I found I was still aware of outside noises and could listen clearly to what I was listening to and still tune into the outside world should I want to. Olivia said the same too. She also commented on the lack of noise warning when turning up the sound. Sat right next to her I was pleased to not be able to hear what she was listening to despite her insistence she had turned it up to full.
The Q16 comes with different sizes covers to fit all sizes of ears to make them more comfortable. We both opted for a medium fit as it felt the most comfortable. We did agree that we couldn’t wear them for long periods of time. This is as we found them a little uncomfortable after a while. Possibly due to us not being frequent headphone wearers. Well, more so me than her as she wears over the head ones mostly.
My niece gave these a whirl with her new phone on a drive to get her little sister asleep. There were no complaints from her on the sound quality, I wasn’t subjected to one of her favourite Disney Channel shows and she said they were comfortable enough. Again I and Olivia have tried them and I did find them more comfortable than the Q16. However, I do think it’s a case of me needing to get used to wearing them. But I think for when I head back to the gym, these will be my go to pair for working out.
We also took in a phone call whilst wearing the B30’s. Yep, we were totally ringing each other from inside the same house. The girls both reported no issues with either set of headphones.
On the whole a big thumbs up from both of us. Initially, I have to say we both preferred the thought of wireless headphones over wired and whilst there weren’t any issues with sound, pairing or using the theQ16 wireless earbuds, we didn’t really find them as comfortable as the B30’s.
We have been quite happily using both pairs for a few weeks now and so far so good. I am spared having to listen to too much YouTube and/or Disney Channel. And I’m also able to enjoy my shows without Olivia having to listen. I am able to sit at my desk and work away with my headphones in and either music or my Sky Go app running on my phone.
