Autumn is just around the corner now as we wave goodbye to summer and head into colder climes. But if you’re not one for colder weather, and prefer to be warm and cosy all year round you need to make sure you are prepared for a change in temperature at home, especially if like me, you dread putting the heating on because of what it signals. But with a few changes to your home decor, you can have comfort and style as you make some cosy autumn home updates.
Scatter cushions are a great way of bringing extra comfort to a room. I love having loads of cushion on my sofa at home to curl up into of an evening as I watch TV with Olivia of even just browse online with a film playing in the background.
Olivia loves soft, luxurious blankets. The fluffier the better. This year we have ourselves one each and they no doubt be a permanent fixture around the house as we welcome autumn. But you don’t have to splash out on blankets. Just having one or two that you already own draped over the sofa ready to be thrown on at the mere hint of a chill makes the difference and definitely helps to bring in some much-needed warmth and comfort at this time of year.
Adding some mood lighting or low lighting is a great idea for bringing a room together and giving it that cosy night in feel. There are hundreds to choose from to suit your style and taste. I have a gorgeous Dome Cloche Firefly Light that sits on top of my TV giving off a warm white glow. It really does help to pull the room together.
These can be ideal for pulling together a look. When making cosy autumn home updates candles, like the ones from Neom can bring in some added fragrance to help you relax and clear your mind after a long day at work, or energise for those of us with busy lives. Even if you prefer yours without fragrance, they still help to create that relaxing, cosy look we all want for this time of year.
Making a small change to your curtains, should this be a possibility will do wonders for shutting the world out and keeping heat in your room. This is as well as helping to keep the cold out. I have short curtains in my windows but I have been toying with the idea of replacing them with floor length ones for when the weather turns colder. As well as helping to keep the room warm, floor length curtains can also change the look of the room and add in some decadence as they sweep across the floor.
Are you looking to make some changes to your home this autumn? I would love to know what cosy autumn home updates you will be making and any suggestions you may have for me to help create the look.
