Win A Wine and Cheese Hamper with Boutique Gifts

Welcome to day 4 of the One Frazzled Mum 8th Blog Birthday Competitions.

As you might have noticed, I am back running a series of competitions to celebrate my blogs 8th birthday. I cannot believe I have managed 8 years and still not learnt how to be a proper blogger! This is officially the longest I have ever stuck with anything in my life (aside from parenting).

For this year, there is a lot of newness in our lives. It is the first time I have started the year as fully self-employed, doing a job I have always wanted to do and love doing. This means new routines, new home dynamics and, more importantly, a new addition to the family.

Introducing Tegan.

a beagle in a woodland setting

Tegan is our gorgeous 12-year-old tri-colour beagle. Olivia has been desperate for a dog for so long, and as she is 16 in March, I decided this year would be the year. Plus, any dog we did get would be her birthday present. We agreed on the adoption route, and back in October/November, we began trawling Dogs Trust for dogs who would be suitable to live with us. In January this year, Oliva caught covid almost one year to the day after I did (and we all remember how that went), and during this time, we received a call from Dogs Trust regarding adopting Tegan.

We were the proud owners of a new dog within the week, and she is quickly settling into life with us. She is the queen of blanket stealing; she loves belly rubs and long walks with all her favourite people (all people she loves everyone). She is super fussy with food and can often be found on the sofa snuggling into at least three blankets at a time, chilling and watching TV. She hates it when I work, but we’re generally good if I am in the same room.

Talking about her being fussy, we have gone through so many different types of food trying to entice her appetite, and while she isn’t a fan of treats unless it is chicken or blocks of cheese, we have finally found a food she wants to eat. Boutique Gifts have kindly sent us this gorgeous personalised plate for Tegan. She currently eats out of a bowl but likes her chicken on a plate (spoilt much!). It is the perfect addition to her feeding mat alongside her bowls.

three dog bowls on a black and white spotty mat witho ne plate saying Tegans dinner plate

Now, I can’t speak for Tegan but I personally think the plate is so nice. I am big on personalised gifts so being able to have something for Tegan with her name on is perfect – it goes with her feeding mat perfectly too. The plate is a similar size to a standard side plate but features text alongside two paw prints.

It is perfect for her to eat her treats from, and by treats, I mean chicken because Tegan isn’t really a food-motivated dog unless it is chicken. She absolutely loves it. Plus it feels like she is really eating with us when she has a plate too.

If you want to order your own personalised dog plate, head over to Boutique Gifts now to check out the range.

Our cat Cosy is 14, our daughter was always cat and kitten mad when she was young but we didn’t want to rush into getting another cat, (we already had 3). So we made her a ‘kitten voucher’ which was left on the Christmas Tree for her along with litter tray, kitten food and toys. It explained that she could exchange the voucher for a kitten when the time was right. Cosy was a rescue kitten who was rejected by the family that adopted her, so she came to us. She’s much loved and very spoiled not only by our now 20 year old daughter but by the whole family.

My cat Domino was 17 yrs old in January. She hates all other animals and is not too keen on people other than me. She moved herself in about 10 years ago with her sister, Figgy. Luckily their owners asked me to keep them as they’d just got a new puppy and the cats were not happy.

I have a very cheeky black and white cat called Archie. Sometimes he looks at me like I am his world and other days he looks at me like he could set me on fire. He loves to hide and jump out at me, race around the house with his ball and although he runs off when anyone comes to the house as he can get anxious around other people, he has a weird obsession with the bin men and runs up to the window to watch them. He makes me smile every day.
