This month I have been lucky enough to receive some Peanut Hottie to review. I was so excited to try it as I love peanuts. Salted peanuts, chocolates with nuts in, peanut M&M’s anything peanut flavoured I am there including peanut butter flavoured sweets think Reece’s but not peanut butter itself, I don’t know what it is but I have never really taken to it. I must admit I was quite intrigued and couldn’t wait to try out Peanut Hottie. Think hot chocolate but peanuts and that is exactly what you get. A versatile powder to use as you wish, as a hot drink, or to add to food as an ingredient the choice is entirely yours! To drink as it is just put 3-4 generous spoonfuls into a mug, add hot water and enjoy!
As I am huge fan of flavoured coffee I thought I would give it a whirl instead of my usual sachet of flavoured chocolate. I added 2 spoonfuls with my coffee and some frothy milk and viola. Now for the taste test……..
And I can confirm complete and utter deliciousness, I am a convert peanut flavoured coffee is my new favourite thing, ever! Forget Starbucks home made all the way now for me and with just 83 calories per 20 gram serving it is much better than adding syrups or flavoured chocolate powder to my coffee. I found that as I only half recommended amount to my drink the taste was subtle and fitted nicely in with coffee not too overpowering at all.

This got me thinking of what else could I add it too? Hmmmm now there is so much choice I could imagine to could add it to all kinds but being the useless cook that I am I decided to play it safe with some muffins from scratch! Very adventurous I know but trust me I can ruin packet mix and have.
Not too bad, again I added 3 spoonfuls to the recipe and a little extra milk and popped them in the oven with my fingers crossed! They were delicious and I was tempted to make some peanut flavoured icing but as Olivia doesn’t like icing we decided to leave them plain.

More like cupcakes than muffins but they tasted so much better than they look trust me!
I thought I best try it out as the hot drink intended too seeing as the name is Peanut Hottie so following instructions I prepared myself a delicious hot peanut drink and it really was delicious.

I am converted! I love this and think I need to head off to stock up before I run out. It is a welcome change from hot chocolate in my opinion. You can buy Peanut Hottie at selected Sainsbury’s and Waitrose but you find more information on their website or you find them on Twitter or on Facebook.
I am thinking I might have to think up some new ways to use this, maybe in a milkshake, in curries (not that I eat curries) biscuits (will probably try this), peanut flavoured scones maybe? In pancakes or desserts. I am thinking I want to get an Easter egg mould or any mould, melt some chocolate add some Peanut Hottie and see what happens! The genius is in how you choose to use it. What would you add this too or would you just try it as a drink?
