Elegear Arc-Chill Cooling Blanket
Have you been wondering if cooling blankets actually do work? Can a piece of material cool you down when you get too hot? And who exactly can benefit from a cooling blanket?
I love a good cooling blanket; Tegan loves a good blanket or 10, so I knew that if a cooling blanket worked, she would 100% claim it as her own when the temperature rose! We already have one, and she sleeps with it already, so when we were kindly sent the Elegear Arc-Chill Cooling Blanket, I saw it as an opportunity to have one for myself too. As you probably know, I am always warm; thanks to my advancing years and Fibromyalgia, my core body temperature is hotter than the sun sometimes.
The Elegear Arc-Chill Cooling Blanket

The cooling blanket is made from 2 different materials, one on each side. The cooling side comprises Japanese Q-Max 0.4 cooling fibres (80% mica-nylon and 20% PE cool fabric). The cooling fibres work to draw the heat from your body and cool you down. The reverse side is 100 cotton. Featuring proprietary jade stone particles, the blanket is designed to keep you cool during the summer and provide a lightweight blanket when the temperature drops. The blanket is also moisture-wicking, meaning it draws moisture from your body to keep you cool and reduce sweating.
The blanket measures 2×1.5m (LxW), i.e. big enough to cover a 5 foot 2-inch woman’s shoulders to toe and full-size beagle too.

Does the Cooling Blanket Work?
I have to be totally honest. It really does. The first thing you notice when you open the blanket is the weight. It has a good weight. It is primarily down to its size. However, when you fully open it and rest it on you, it isn’t heavy at all. It’s kind of what I imagine a weighted blanket to feel like.
The cooling side of the blanket feels smooth and silky and feels cool to the touch. It is instantly cool, and you can feel thin on your skin right away. You do not need to place it in a fridge or a freezer for the cooling effect.

As predicted, Tegan loves it and lies on her cooling blanket of a night. Then I noticed she sneakily claimed this one too!
You should know that the blankets do not stay cool when on your body. As it absorbs the heat from you, the blanket becomes warmer. All you need to do is to rearrange the blanket or remove it to allow it to cool down again, and then you’re good to go.
The other side isn’t as cool, but it is more of a lightweight, thin blanket, perfect for when there is a chill in the air, or the sun goes down on a hot summer’s day. While it doesn’t actively cool you down, it is soft to the skin and cosier than the other side.
The blanket washes well, dries quickly and is really comfortable to use once you get used to the feeling of the material. I absolutely love it; Tegan does; Olivia doesn’t quite understand why I need a cooling blanket (but she modelled it for me anyway), but honestly, if you are thinking about it, do it!

You can use these blankets all year round; simply flip from the cooling side to the cotton side. You can purchase the Elegear Arc-Chill cooling blanket on Amazon using this code 8FU2B6IU for 10% off (expires 16/05/2023).
