I can’t believe I have lived here for nearly 11 years, and this is only the third summer I have used my garden for something other than storing junk. Since giving my garden a facelift in the summer of 2020, I have been obsessed with sprucing it up with different accessories. Now, these change each year as I see new bits, and it is still a work in progress, but one thing I love having out there is lights.

In the first instance, I decided to have pink and blue lights. I have always loved the bulb-style lights, so I went with those to create a new light option on my fence. Last year, I updated those bulbs for flickering flame lantern-style lights. I love the flickering flame effect, and I got some in-ground light stakes to compliment my new lights. And when I got my fence put up, they looked amazing against it.

Sadly, the lights sustained some damage over the winter, and I cannot replace them this year as they have been discontinued. So the hunt began for new lights. Then wouldn’t you know, I was asked to review the Avoalre LED Outdoor Lights (affiliate link). They are mains-powered LED string lights over a 10-metre length which is just the right length for my garden from one end to another.

Avoalre LED Outdoor Lights

As I mentioned, I love the light bulb style lights for my garden, and the Avoalre LED outdoor lights are small bulbs all connected to the length of the wire. There are 30 lights over the 10-metre length, and you get three spare bulbs. The lights are in a secure plastic casing, and each bulb casing has a hook on it to allow for easier hanging. The extension lead is easily removable, and you can connect up to 17 sets of lights using the connectors at each end.

The lights meet all regulations and certifications; they’re IP65 waterproof rated and have the CE marking (CE-RoHS/CE-EMC/CE-LVD Certified).

The bulbs are smaller than I thought they would be (they’re 40 mm), but they still look great on my fence, if not better being smaller. I love the vibrancy of the filament inside the bulb, which makes them look good when on and off too.

Hanging My Avoalre LED Outdoor Lights

I decided to replace the damaged lights on my newer fence and use the flickering flame lights on the opposite side. As the Avoalre lights give off a warm orange glow, they still match the theme of my garden and look great opposite my existing lights.

The lights are easy to hang (I used existing hooks), and as there are connectors at both ends, you can easily remove the plug connection if the fixed hooks on the bulbs don’t work where you want to hang them. But they are so flexible you can use them in pretty much any configuration.

I put them up with Olivia reasonably quickly, and as they are mains operated, they were ready to go instantly. The length was long enough for the lights to sit across the whole length of my fence and to feed the lug through the window to plug it in without the need for additional extension leads. Of course, this will depend on where you hang them and the plug sockets in your home, but it worked well for me.

Now the lights are up, I am thrilled with them, and my reservations about having mains-operated outdoor lights are gone; I might invest in a new set for the opposite side. They look great and are absolutely perfect for my fence.

We have had some rain since they have been up and a fair bit of wind, and so far, they have lasted well and seem to be coping fine with the changing weather.
