Olivia has been after a smart watch for the longest time! After a collaboration earlier in the reviewing the Hamswan Oil Diffuser, they kindly sent us a BlueTooth Smart Watch from Easy SMX to review. In red, one of Olivia’s favourite colours. With neither of us having owned a Bluetooth Smart Watch before it’s safe to say it was going to take us a little while to get used to using one. Setting it up with one of our phones could also prove tricky for me! The technophobe that I am.
Bluetooth Smart Watch from EasySMX Review
The strap for the watch is thick soft silicone with a plastic case around the face. The screen is quite big and as I don’t currently wear a watch, nor does Olivia it seems to take over both of our wrists. It doesn’t have the polished sleek look of the more expensive and upmarket brands and whilst that particular shade of red isn’t for me it seemed to be great for Olivia. It does come in other colours too if red isn’t your thing either.
The screen is actually easier to see and use than I thought it was going to be. After a little bit of playing around with it I w, s able to set the time zone, time and date fairly easily and get it connected to my phone via the Bluetooth. Olivia will be using it via a Samsung S4 and myself the Samsung S7.
Using the Watch.
Upon first using it, Olivia noticed that it gave out a warning beep when her phone was too far away. eg; when leaving her phone in a different room, the watch was sounding saying she was out of range. So I walked to the other end of the garden with my phone less than a few feet away from the back door in the kitchen. At around 10-15ft away from the phone, I also lost connection. Worth bearing in mind, if you aren’t going to be with your phone all day, you need to keep it close by and within Bluetooth range.
We found it easy to pair with the required app on both my S7 and Olivia’s S4. Olivia loved the pedometer feature on the watch and was able to easily receive calls and messages. When paired with my phone the ringtone also played via the watch as opposed to my phone.
The watch is easy to use and find your way around. The screen is quick and responsive too which was good and made it easier to use. The graphics icons aren’t as up to date as you would expect on more expensive models. It also doesn’t have all the functions you expect with a hefty price tag. However, for £11.99, it does what you would expect it to do and does it well.
The only downside I have found to it is that the battery life doesn’t seem to last that long. We are charging it almost daily. The Bluetooth function also seems to drain Olivia’s S4. And the dust cover for the charger seems to be a little flimsy and ours doesn’t sit right in the space. It could come off quite easily if it was caught. But other than that I didn’t have any issues at all.
Olivia has been loving using it with her phone and has found it simple and easy to use. It does everything she needs it to do. If you are looking for a smart watch that does the basics, it is worth having a look at the EasySMX Smart Watch. Either for yourself or for a first smart watch for your child. I was more than pleased with it and happy to let Olivia use it too.
