After giving Olivia’s bedroom a complete makeover during the school summer holidays, we have been putting the finishing touches on it here and there. Once the decorating was finished it was down to little things like picking out new furnishings to go with her new look room and accessories to match.
We did keep her old storage units, albeit without the approx 3,000 Barbies and the like. She has a chest of drawers now doubling up as a dressing table and a small desk intended for homework but is currently a stationery dumping ground. She settled on duck egg blue for her colour scheme and chose a gorgeous glass chandelier style pendant to go on her light. As she is hitting the tween years, we wanted something that would grow with her and not be outdated before she falls out of love with her new current TV show (ie in around 6 months time!)
This resulted in us swapping her bunkbeds for a more ‘sophisticated’ day bed with trundle.
It is crazy how much more spacious the room seems without the bunk beds in. So when Room to Grow offered to send Olivia some items to compliment her new grown-up style, I was intrigued to see if they would have anything suitable that would fit in nicely.
Room to Grow has been providing parents and children alike with practical bedroom solutions since 1996. Taking the hard work out of finding space saving furniture that is perfect for children’s bedrooms, Room to Grow also have a range of bedroom accessories to please both parents and children alike. If, like me, you are looking to makeover your little one’s bedroom, you can find children’s beds for sale from Room to Grow along with matching furniture, storage solutions too.
Would Olivia be Enticed by What They had on Offer?
We both had a good look around the site and was pleased to see items that catered to older children too. With a Mighty-B Beanbag now on her birthday list, Olivia went for the Serene Colour Changing Alarm Clock (£25) and the Nova Clip on Light (£25) to add to her new style room. The alarm clock is perfect for waking her up for school mornings. The light is ideal for clipping to her bedside table for when she reads in bed. It’s safe to say they were both seemed exactly what she needed.
The alarm clock is so cute and she has been setting this alongside her phone alarm. The colour changing light is a great feature too. It acts like a nightlight when she doesn’t want a bright light of an evening. You can set this to fade to turn itself off after a certain time and honestly, in terms of setting the time and alarm – one of the easiest alarms clocks to adjust!
The alarm clock comes with a USB cable. It can be plugged into any plug with a compatible connection eg mobile phone charger. Alternatively, it does work with an AA battery if you don’t want to have it plugged in.
The clip on desk light is now used as a reading light.
Olivia isn’t a big reader generally. But she does prefer to sit in the dark and her other novelty lights weren’t bright enough to read by when the mood takes her. Having this on her bedside table means she can have that light source when she wants to read. Plus she can easily switch it on of a morning without having to turn her ceiling light on. The on/off switch is located on the wire. With having a plug socket right by her bed it is within arms reach for her without having to move from her cosy bed when it is cold at night.
I was pretty impressed that Room to Grow doesn’t just cater for younger children. I easily managed to find some items suitable for Olivia and they are perfect for her new look room. What do you think of Olivia’s picks?
