The Marchpower Oscillating Foldaway Fan Review
Last summer was ridiculously hot in the UK. It’s no understatement to say we saw some of the hottest temperatures on record. And on top of this, it was our first year with a dog to keep cool too. So when I was asked to review the Marchpower Oscillating Foldaway Fan this year, I knew I had to try it out to be ready for this summer.
We ended up with a collection of mini fans, cooling mats and blankets (which, by the way, are fabulous) and the use of the air con boxes in the front rooms of my house. Usually, these boxes are perfect, but they were no match for the heat despite the front of our house being in the shade most of the day.
I did eventually find a fan, but it was self-assembly, and trying to get mini screws into the case proved too much in the 30-degree heat, and to this day, it remains open but usable.
The Marchpower Oscillating Foldaway Fan
I’m not going to lie; I was intrigued by this fan. It can be used as a desktop or floor fan and comes with a case for you to carry around. On top of this, it is remotely controlled, and it can be charged for up to 28 hours of run time to allow you to take it literally anywhere.
The fan itself is 10 inches, and it is quite compact, kind of a hybrid size between a desktop and a stand fan; however, this doesn’t affect how well it works. You can set the windspeed via the remote to one of the 5 settings and adjust the head of the fan to get it in the right position for you. You can also use the touchscreen on the base to adjust the fan too if you don’t have the remote to hand.
The fan can be plugged in or charged for battery use as it has a 7200mAh battery meaning you can take it to work, camping, for use outdoors or anywhere you don’t have access to a plug.
Reviewing the Foldaway Fan from Marchpower
Firstly, I love that it comes ready assembled, and all you need to do is take it out of the box.
It is really simple to do. The fan is closed into the base, and all you need to do is lift the head of the base by the silver arrow (this locks and unlocks it into place) and pop it into position. In this position, you can use it as a desk fan. Or you can gently extend the pole and have it standing on the floor. Plug it in or charge it, and you’re good to go. You don’t only get a USB charging cable, so you must provide your own plug, and a charger of 10w or higher is recommended.
When you first open the fan, there is a little arrow indicating where to twist the base to allow the unit to open. From here, the head of the fan lifts up and can be put into position. On the base is a small touch panel for you to turn the fan on and off, set different speeds, and even a timer which is perfect for overnight.
I had a little play around using the remote and the LCD to adjust the speed manually. It is really easy and is a case of tapping each control until you get the desired result. There are 5 speeds, and you can move the fan up and down and side to side to get the perfect angle.
The fan is powerful on the lowest setting; however, on the top speed, this will be perfect for the rising temperatures of the summer months. I became accustomed to sleeping with the fan last year to keep Tegan, and me cool overnight. As an old dog (and girl), we struggled in the heat. But the noise of our fan was irritating. The Marchpower adjustable fan is whisper quiet. It reminds me of a sound you would set in the white noise app. There is no clicking when the fan moves. No rattling from the blades of the fan. It is all smooth and really easy on the ears. And if you prefer not to have the fan on at all, you can simply set it off after a certain period. From 1, 2, 4 and 8 hours. What more could you want?
Oh yeah, I forgot, the cherry on the cake is it can be charged to take anywhere! Don’t have a plug close to your bed? No issue, charge the fan and take it wherever you want with no wires training everywhere. Want to take it camping? Charge it up, and off you go. You can top it up with a power bank.
The only downside is that it doesn’t have a plug, but we have extension leads with USB slots, so it’s not an issue for us. I’ve not timed how long it takes to charge fully, but it doesn’t take too long.
Conclusion
I am so impressed with the Marchpower Osciliiating Foldaway Fan; I can tell it’s going to be brilliant when the warmer weather finally arrives.
