We love a good game in this house. Especially games that don’t have the ability to cause WWW3 like certain ones, I’m looking at you here Monopoly! But any type of game where we can all sit down together and have some fun is a winner with us! But as Olivia is getting older she is growing out of certain types of games so that leaves us with a gap to find more suitable, age-appropriate ones that can hold her attention without bringing out the crazy competitive streak she inherited from my younger sister! Doing this Staccups Review from University Games looked like it had to potential to fill the slot and keep Miss Olivia amused or could it?
Stack your cups on the stand using the base as a guide for your first cup. By pressing the button on the podium stand you will be given your starting colour. Match your next cups to the colour of the TOP of the cup to win the game by stacking all your cups first!
For 2-4 players, ages 8+
Firstly it was pretty easy to set up. I love that the instructions are on the box, as we always lose them and this way I won’t be able to! All you need to do is place the correct colour top on cup until all the cups have the correct colours. The idea is the top is a different colour to the cup. Your first cup is determined by the colour shown on the podium stand. Simple right! All that’s left is to separate the cups between all the players, then you are ready to play.
There’s really not much to it, it is pretty quick and easy to get going. You can play this with up to 4 players. We played just the two of us. When you are ready to play you just press the button on the stand to find out your base colour, then off you go.
We have played this a few times now and we have found it a really fun and quick game. We did reach the point of not being able to use all of our cups fairly fast, but you just press the button on the podium stand until you can stack again, but remember to make sure you are looking for the right colour! There is a trick to this if you want to go this far and are a fast thinker. By knowing your cups and your colours, you can strategically place them instead of randomly picking them up. But the speed is the issue, you want to be the first and all logical thinking seems to go out the window or is that just us……..
This would be great for our family to play together over Christmas, we love a good game and this definitely has the fun factor. I think it would be even funnier after a few drinks, it would definitely test our hand-eye coordination that’s for sure!
But so far this game has been a big hit. It is actually still set up on our coffee table now. I think it helps Olivia to relax in a crazy, I’m going to win competitive kind of way!
I first saw this game when I went to the Blogon Xmas conference and loved it then and we haven’t been disappointed.
