Saving Kiranthia. Welcome to the Fold. The four girls are together but they still have no idea where they are or how they got there. Arkaya is still asleep and tensions are strained between the 3 strangers surrounding her seemingly lifeless body? But is all as it seems in this place of nothingness void of life?
Saving Kiranthia. Welcome to the Fold.
His short-cropped grey hair belied his age. Small in stature, no more than 5 feet tall, he walked with a stoop. He had been this way since the great war 2 centuries before. Yet Johann had never let it phase him. Unlike others who fought alongside him to preserve the fold, Johann kept his powers. He did back then and he was determined to now. This was what he had been biding his time for. Every so often the fold comes under attack from those wishing to destroy its power. He had always been at the fold and always would be. The threats may come and go but one thing he could count on was his own and the fold’s resilience.
The fold, as it had become known, was a ripple in time existing between all worlds and realities.
Like a crease in a piece of paper, the fold was where time stopped in one world and a new dimension or reality began in another. The edge of nowhere and everywhere, Johann existed here keeping the balance and stopping one worlds bloodshed from crossing over to another. But sometimes he couldn’t do it alone. His kind needed outside help.
The parameters of the fold, invisible as they were, formed a barrier around the white existence in the ripple. No light could reach it, nothing could penetrate it to taint the place that was not only the middle of everywhere but the edge of it all. Nothing could define it, it purely existed as it was. Time didn’t exist here. What felt like an eternity was a matter of minutes. And this is exactly how Johann preferred it to be.
But up until this point, no outside beings had entered the fold. It was safer this way. Johann was free to roam the realms of other times and space, but this space was sacred. That was until he allowed Arkaya to exact her spell thoroughly. He had no choice, he needed her help as much as she needed his spell to work. That’s why it had taken her so long to transcribe. He had to be sure she was the one who could help them all.
So slowly he arose her from her slumber. Arkaya, the last Pricana lay there in his fold about to be summoned for her new life.
A new world etched with violence, laced with pain and dogged by struggles. But he would stand at her side guiding her, helping her and pushing her until she could no longer fight and the threat eviscerated.
Standing back, Johann watched as girl awoke. Her eyes darting across the three strangers stood over her. He could see her excitement, hear her hurried tone, words crashing into each other before she allowed them to roll properly off the tongue and he smiled. This was the next chapter in his legacy. The next challenge in her life. But right now at this moment, instead of being 4 fearless warriors with the weight of forever on their shoulders, they looked like 4 young girls. Laughing in the canteen at something funny one of them said. And for a moment he let them have this. He let them remain who they are now for little longer, well at least until they had finished their introductions.
“Hello”, he spoke in a soft but firm tone. “Hello. It is my great honour to welcome you to my world. To the fold in time where nothing exists yet everything meets. Hello”
Their chatter hung in the air, suspended as the shock of the new stranger’s voice reached them.
“Arkaya” Johann lifted his head to meet her gaze.
The smallest of the girls focused on him and him alone, her brown eyes wide with shock and a little fear too he noticed. “It is so wonderful to finally meet you after all this time. I am so pleased you managed to cast my spell”
Johann smiled at his soon to be new prodigy before turning his head to take in the wall of women that had formed behind her. “Ladies, it is my utmost pleasure to make your acquaintances” he acknowledged all three who stood before him.
“Let me introduce you all. Ariel, Princess and ruler of Auragon. A mighty warrior and compassionate leader and mum to 3 of the most powerful beings this universe and beyond will ever experience. Diana, ruler of Demenia, queen of your land and friend to many. Your grandparents, whom I had the pleasure of serving alongside, would be so proud of all you have achieved thus far. Lastly, Ginny. Demon, fighter, lover. Your trail of death and destruction proceeds your reputation as does your commitment to James and your love for all eternity. You alone have been to and survived hell. You have lived to continue your destiny and you are an integral part my future.” Johann turned his attention back to Arkaya “and lastly, my dear is you young Arkaya. The last Pricana left and the only Priestess who can help me fight the man you are in hiding from. The man who seeks to destroy us all, Varillous”
Johann stood stock in the centre of all the women. Moving to finish his speech before Ariel could get a word out he continued “I would like to thank you for coming and following the spell. There is trouble afoot and I, we, need you all to help defeat Varillous and his army before he destroys every world and realm as we all know it. Please help us” he implored of them all.
