My Little Pony SugarCube Corner Review

my little pony sugarcube corner review

Recently Olivia got some really exciting news and for the first time in a really long time showed some enthusiasm for this little blog of ours. You see, she, well we, were invited to be part of the Hasbro Toy Tribe! How exciting is that please! There were squeals of epic proportions, from her not me, and at one point I swear only dogs could hear her!

As part of the Toy Tribe we get invited to try out and review some of the new and upcoming toys Hasbro are releasing. Our first task was to put the new My Little Pony SugarCube Corner play set through it’s paces. RRP £19.99 this set is available to buy now for all My Little Pony Fans to add to their collection.

As well as the Sweet Shoppe shop front, you also get the Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich figures too and some accessories to help you create some fabulous stories and adventures for them both to get up to!

Olivia loved this set and as you can see in the picture directly above (bottom of the collage) she added in a few of the ponies she already has herself. She spent hours playing with it. Attaching and taking off some the accessories onto the sweet shoppe. As you can see it is only small and just the front fascia of the shop not whole store. At first I was a bit disappointed but after seeing Olivia play with it I can see why it is supplied the way it is. As you can probably tell most of the ‘action’ takes place around the back and ‘inside’ the store.

There is so much attention to detail on the actual sweet shop itself to give a real authentic My Little Pony feel to it and Olivia made no comments about it not looking right or being wrong. Trust me if this turned up looking even slightly different from the My Little Pony she is used to she will make it known! It is also much more sturdier than it looks. In the box it looks to be quite flimsy and I had concerns Olivia would break it. It proved me wrong. Obviously if it is handled roughly it will break but for what it is designed for, it really isn’t too flimsy and doesn’t appear to feel like it’s all that easy to break.

The Sugar Cube Corner Sweet Shoppe is only a small set but if your little one is a fan and has convinced you to build your very own Ponyville then this set will fit right in. Olivia is now making room on her unit and this is currently being moved into what was formerly Barbie’s Dreamhouse Garage! I may need a bigger house!

This set does contain some very small parts so you need to think carefully about this if buying for younger children but for Olivia and older children it is a lovely little set.

Of course it is a big thumbs up from Olivia. She absolutely loved it. Would I buy it? Probably yes. Or to be honest I would probably let Olivia buy it with her own money and not persuade her to buy something else. We have quite the figure/doll collection going on in our house and if I feel it’s not value for money it won’t be purchased but I would let her get this to add to my ‘retirement fund’ (is how I affectionately refer to her doll collection it is that extensive)

Currently on sale in Argos for £19.99 but you can get it right now (day of posting this review) for half price at Toys R us £9.99

  1. That’s so pretty! I would have thought the same about it being just the front, so it’s great to know that it works out for the best for the kids who are going to be playing with it. Super-helpful review, thank you!

  3. I love this set! It was really good! Bella really liked it and played for hours after we opened it . It has so many details on it. It is really cute. I’m glad Olivia also liked it! You can tell that she was very concentrated when she was unboxing it! lol Thank so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS lovely. It is a pleasure to have you 🙂 x

  4. I didn’t realise there was a character named Cheese Sandwich! It goes to show how behind I am when it comes to kid’s programmes. The set looks nice. It’s something I would’ve wanted when I was a young girl. Thank you for linking up to #fortheloveofBLOG!

  5. I love how much fun she had with this, because it does look like quite a simple toy to me and I love how that actually just encourages them to use their imagination more. x #KCACOLS

  6. I’m a total self confessed Bronie since my little girl started a fascination with MLP and Equestria Girls. Her collection is getting very big already. Hasbro has me broke haha #KCACOLS

  7. My girls would love this and yet I hate toys with tiny little pieces, they end up lost in no time! They do love the little ponies though, pinkie pie especially! #KCACOLS

  8. I can’t get over the fact that they have a character called Cheese Sandwich. That in itself is worth £20. Looks like it was a real hit with your little girl! #KCACOLS

  9. That sounds like quite a bargain from Toys R Us, I’m Olivia had lots fun with it. Nice that she can be featured on your blog with something she can help review. I remember the ponies to be a lot bigger than they look in your photos! That was a long time ago though!
