About 18 months ago Olivia and I were invited to visit Madame Tussauds Blackpool and we loved it. On Monday we visited Blackpool again to visit The Blackpool Tower Dungeon and as it scared the bejesus out of the girls I
decided needed to make it up to them and I knew how!
Madame Tussauds is now home to the the waxwork of the one and only Mr. Olly Murs ( bet you read that in your best X Factor voice didn’t you!). Now he would make all those scary thoughts go away wouldn’t he! Yes indeed so off we went. I had some major grovelling to do here didn’t I but you know what, Olly isn’t the only superstar to be gracing Blackpool this year. An ExTra special guest has also landed at Madame Tussauds .
The story goes:
After numerous sightings from the residents of Blackpool of an extraterrestrial nature, namely of a boy on his bike riding around the resort with an otherworldly figure sat in the basket, it turned out to be a local boy who had befriended Madame Tussauds Blackpool’s latest addition E.T. who was getting a guided tour of his new home. He has arrived just in time for half term so all visiting children (or adults who have grown up with the film) are able to recreate the famous pose on the bike with E.T. himself.
He looks very realistic doesn’t he! The girls, having never seen E.T. weren’t really interested, the lure of Mr. Murs proved too much as did Paddy McGuinness on the set of Take Me Out, one of Olivia’s favourite T.V. shows.
It was my niece’s first time visiting and she wanted to experience it all, pictures everywhere with everyone, Olivia was a bit more calm, been there done that. Unfortunately, some of the figures were undergoing repairs with a sign at the entrance that Ant and Dec weren’t present but there was still plenty to see and we spent a good 2 hours in there snapping pics, posing and having a drink in the Rovers Return.
Olivia’s favourites were Torvill and Dean, Olly Murs, Darcey Bussell, and of course Olly!
I had my pic with John Bishop, Deirdre Barlow and the obligatory selfie
We had a fun time, I got stung for some great pictures, Ellie got a wax hand in pink and this happened……………
There’s a souvenir, then there is trying to take a waxwork home with you, Olivia! Doubt she’s the first and won’t be the last, he had two “bodyguards” at the door though just in case 😉
You can pre-book tickets online here with prices starting from £13 for adults and £10.50 for children. Prices are more expensive on the day
Have you visited Madame Tussauds? Who would you most like to see?
