It is here. It’s time. It is birthday monsoon season. The time of the year, when for the best part of March AND April, we have not 1, or even 3 birthdays but 7 birthdays, Mother’s Day and Easter too! So it seemed perfect for the Birthday Blowout Game from Hasbro Gaming to turn up right when we are about to kick off the celebrations!
Will the Birthday Blowout Game be the one to replace our birthday bingo games? We do love a bit of (highly) competitive bingo as we play to win the chocolates but could something else be a little bit more fun? It looks like it could be fun and with birthday ages celebrated from 5 to 61 during monsoon season, the game needs to be a hit with kids young and old alike!
Can you blow out the most candles?
Prepare to be left breathless as you blow out all the candles to be able to move up through the levels? Keep an eye on those tricky ones that will flicker back on to try and catch you out and stop you winning? Can you do it? Do you have enough breath to blow them all out?
Are You Any Good At Blowing Up Balloons?
I’m really not and I decided to try this out before I passed it over to the kids. You literally pop in the 3 AA batteries and the candles literally sit in the spaces. Then all you need is to press the buttons on the front to select the amount of players 1 – 4 and you’re good to go.
The cake flashes different colours for each player. The tune starts, candles light up and you need to blow on them as hard as you can! I found it quite tough, I’m not going to lie. I huffed and I puffed and got a little light headed as I refused to be beaten by the song! But I was beaten by the cake. Again and again. As were all the kids. This game is tricky and judging by the laughter around me really funny to watch.
But be warned, the lights won’t go out by cheating and spinning the candles.
Someone (not actually me for a change) tried it and was caught out! The kids are sore losers, trust me! But the same way you would make the candle spin with your hand seemed to be the best way to blow them out too. Make them spin and blow at the candles side on is my best tip for you.
We had so much fun playing this game even if it was a little frustrating at times considering I was pretty rubbish at it! But we had fun and with us smack bang in the middle of birthday season, it has arrived at the perfect time for us! We do always play a game, usually, birthday bingo on each of our birthdays and this is just as fun to add in too. I do have to say though, I’m not sure anyone actually ‘won’ as such but we played on regardless.
The game is recommended for ages 4+ but I definitely think it more suitable for younger kids, our older girls weren’t really fussed on playing.
If you fancy seeing if you can blow out all the candles, Birthday Blowout is available to buy from the Entertainer currently on offer for £13.33 from £20.
