Belated Birthday Giveaway
Back in July, I started writing this post. I wanted to do a little giveaway to celebrate turning 40. However, my health took a drastic downward turn, and I sank deeper and deeper into a pit of exhaustion and breathlessness. The apparent combination of long covid and Fibromyalgia was not so slowly draining me.
So here we are; in September, the post remained in my drafts, and thankfully, my health is better. So much better. You can read more about it in my post about medical fatphobia and Mirtazapine withdrawals, both of which were pretty unpleasant experiences but thankfully behind me now.
If you have had a pretty crappy 2021 like me (to make up for my amazing 2020 clearly), and you want to cheer yourself up by entering some competitions, read on to find out how to enter.
2021 and Me

Everyone knows I caught covid early January 2021. Dramatically, the story now goes, remember when I almost died of covid? Because I felt like I was at death’s door, and I reckon I smelt like I was at death’s door too!
But, there were also some shining beacons, such as finally getting to live on furlough for a little bit as I moaned for in 2020. Meaning I could concentrate on the blog and get some great original content posted finally.
I quit my part-time job, and sadly the shop has now closed down – the effects of the pandemic will be felt for many years by small businesses, I think. My health meant I couldn’t physically do the job.
Then, I got a full time writing position I had wanted for so long, meaning I could live comfortably fully self-employed.
Also, I was in the process of splitting my blog content across three blogs: one Frazzled Mum, One Frazzled Fibro and One Frazzled Fiction. I can now carry on with this as Olivia is back in school, and my health has improved.
And now, thanks to a great GP who saw past my weight finally diagnosed my issues as being medication-related, so I am firmly on the mend, back to eating better, getting back to regular walks and not simply festering on my sofa, which I upgraded to a recliner so another plus point there.

Pleasant, My family and I have managed a couple of staycations and living on the Isle of Wight its like being on a permanent holiday so I can’t really complain xx
Can’t say i’ve enjoyed it much, but it’s been better than last year at least.
It’s been up and down but better than last year!
We had a family holiday this year which was fantastic (and needed!)
Not bad, some health problems, but a new job, so looking good x
2021 has been a lot better than 2020. Managed to get ‘back to normal’ a little and a few UK breaks.
2021 has been a tough year.
Pretty much the same as everyone, tough but we all need to fight on ❤️❤️ X
2021 has been a blur of home schooling then trying to get back to normal but it’s come to a standstill now as my son and partner has caught Covid. Hopefully the end of the year picks up.
It seems to have just passed in a blur to be honest, as I get older time goes by to quickly
2021 has been a mixed bag so far! Some brilliant moments but some hard times with losses close to home too.
2021 has been a mix of the good and the bad. Definitely not as good as usual years but definitely better than 2020. Staying positive and looking forward to 2022.
My year has been awful I was living in temporary accommodation and am still trying to find work so not such a good 2021 hopefully can only get better.
2021 has been a rough year. I lost a friend and a relative to Covid, so I’ve been angry at a lot of people / the government for giving up on some easy ways to prevent the spread.
It’s been a year of appreciating how precious life is and to make the most of every day unfortunately I’ve lost friends this year and it’s definitely made me realise just how short a time we are here and that we should spend time with family and friends more
I hate to be a downer but 2021 has been rotten, that being said, a lot of people’s has been. Poor health, losing pets and just a series of bad luck has been mine so far, but I’m optimistic and thankful for the important things in life like family.
2021 hasn’t been great tbh. I’ve spent a lot of time at the hospital with my mum, we all thought it was the end but it turned out the bloody doctors had given her so many different opiates she was seriously overdosed on them! But now, she’s drug free and so much better, so onwards and upwards
2021 has sure had it’s ups and downs, to be honest. Earlier this year we had to cancel our wedding due to family illness, already postponing it from 2020 after COVID. That meant we lost £600+ in deposits.
Summer was going fairly well, we had rebooked our wedding elsewhere, and we were looking forward to it. Then things started going sour. Forced to cut ties with in-laws which resulted in having to cancel the wedding again, losing a further £300.
Finally, though, today (8th Oct) we managed to Give Notice, and my fiancé and I will hopefully be marrying next month! Yay!
Hoping 2022 will be better, though ♥
Hasn’t been the best but fingers crossed for a healthier and happier 2022!
My 2021 has been mainly fine so far. I also had some of these brownies for my birthday and they are amazing. One of my highlights of 2021.
My 2021 has been rubbish – but I have the prospect of a new puppy on the horizon so I have high hopes that 2021 will finish on a really positive note
I’m so pleased things are looking up for you.
2021 started off bad but has been getting better, lets hope it keeps getting better.
It started off great until we went to Scarborough on holiday and caught Covid
It’s looking up with a surprise baby on the way! lol
2021 has had it’s ups and down for me like everyone else, but I try and look for a little happiness in each day.I’m a bit late, but wishing you a happy 40th birthday. Sorry to hear what a hard time you’ve had with y our health, I’m glad you are getting better now. Thanks for the giveaway, amazon vouchers are so handy.
Been great so far, went to three matches during Euro 2020, including the England Germany game at Wembley.
Highs & Lows. New Granddaughter born in February, but then my youngest who had been back from Uni since last December went back for a new year in September & I’m missing him terribly. My other son, his fiancee & grandkids all live about an hour away so don’t see them as much.
So far, so good. Have avoided the virus and begun to catch up with family and friends.
2021 has been okay so far. Me and my husband have been incredibly lucky that we could both do our jobs from home so we have been saving money on lunches and fuel which helped us pay to get our garden landscaped so we could enjoy working in the garden this summer.
It’s had its downs, but things are looking much better now so fingers crossed! We are on the right track.
2021 has just been and gone really. We’ve been staying at home and avoiding people like, errrr, the plague!
It’s been exciting for me as my youngest daughter gave birth to my 2nd granddaughter in April and my eldest daughter is due to give birth to my first grandson any time now, I just hope the petrol crisis doesn’t stop me from visiting my daughter’s and grandchildren at Christmas.
Working from home (when I used to work in the office and never at home), and in the office a few days a week. No holiday this year for us. Mum-in-law got taken into care home as has dementia, which hasn’t been great for anyone.
Things are looking up though with a few concerts in Oct/Nov to go to.
I started a new job closer to home so have a much better work life balance
2021 Has been a pretty good year, slowly being able to get back to normality doing things that we took for granted before covid!
I have been on a health kick and have felt all the better for it too.
Been through years of stress and know what you say when you mention feeling really down. Recently started walking – a lot (also suffer from breathlessness) and taking photos on my mobile as I walked. This has helped a lot. There are some things only acceptance can cure – acceptance and the discovery of a dream.
With the arrival of our gorgeous baby girl in March with a fantastic home birth 2021 has been bliss!
Boring and challenging. Couldn’t travel anywhere and I injured myself so I ended up resting at home all summer, still recovering…
It’s been a bit meh tbh.
2021 has been really strange. At times I felt that life would never be the same again. Luckily things are looking up and we can all start getting out and about again.
Changed jobs, few health scares, nice break away, lots of nice food!
It’s been very strange to be honest, but I finally feel as though things are getting better and we can start making plans again x
Not great but OK. Last year I had Covid which was terrible but this year I’ve had an infected wisdom tooth which is also nasty. Other than that OK, I have two part time jobs which I enjoy with good colleagues.
Not all bad, half the house had covid in July but we had a fab time in London in August. Eldest got amazing GCSE results and is enjoying college!
It’s been ok I’m hoping to take my driving test this year and when I pass it will be a fantastic year lol
2021 has been good for me and my family, i have put my health first at last and have just enjoyed time with my family
A bit rubbish if I’m honest
Fantastic Prize keeping my fingers crossed …
Got better as the year went on as had a health scare at the start which turned out fine and reminded me whats important in life
Not the best year, would love to have seen more of my family and friends at the beginning of the year and there wasn’t’t really much of a summer! Oh well!
2021 has definitely been better than 2020 …but that’s not difficult is it? We have gradually started to go out and about but I have to admit that I’m still nervous of attending any event where there are crowds.
Its been a quiet year, fortunately we live in the country so are able to get out and about walking the dogs etc. Its made me appreciate how lucky we are, not being stuck in the city or having to travel on public transport.
Not so brilliant due to family problems but keeping fingers crossed for rest of the year
It’s been a bit stressful but I’m very lucky compared to some. Looking forward to seeing family towards the end of the year.
To me, 2021 seems to have been exceptionally long – and boring. I do love my home but have become fed up with the sight of my own four walls! I think like most people, I could do with a holiday, circumstances permitted. But I’m thankful to have been vaccinated and fingers crossed, remain healthy.
Quite a bit of stress in 2021 unfortunately, but I try to find the positive things to focus on.
Better than 2020 as we have managed to see family and friends and also get away to the beautiful British countryside this year. Looking forward to a time when I can visit family and grandchildren in Australia though !
Stressful, however it was great to see and meet my family again
It has been good – just need to think about the positives!
fantastic! moved to a lovely new home.
Happy Belated Birthday! I’m sorry it hasn’t been so easy going for you.
2021 has been stressful for me, lots of animal illnesses and deaths (that’s the trouble with rescuing and so many!) the last month to two months has been horrendous for me, first with tonsillitis, then bronchitis (which has affected my breathing) then I had a fall and ended up having to have x-rays, although nothing broken, a slow and painful recovery. I’m trying my best to turn it around!
Not good regarding my health but hey ho, life goes on!
Not great but to be fair I think its the same for everyone until we stop being scared!
Not a great year! But looking forward to happier times
It’s mostly been a quiet year, as it has for many. The biggest thing was travelling across the country in the Summer, visting family.
Not too bad, a quiet year with some ups and downs
2021 has been great. Been travelling( when it was safe to do so) around the country.
I had Covid in 2020, but I was in poor health before, so I’m housebound but live in a bungalow with a beautiful coastal view and have a great family so I’m in good spirits.
