In 2007 director Michael Bay brought a whole new audience to one of our favourite childhood toys. Released to the toy market in 1984, Transformers have been a staple in most kids toys boxes for over 30 years. When they hit the big screen, Transformers only became bigger and better.
This revival has continued to see new films made and new toys to go alongside the films. 23rd June 2017 sees the release of the fifth film in the ever-popular franchise. Transformers: The Last Knight looks to be just as much of a success as the four films that came before it.
I have to admit, even though typically it is my type of film, I haven’t seen any of them yet. Nor do we have any Transformer toys, that is, up until now!
Olivia has asked for a few years now for one but I have always found something else to buy her instead, not convinced she would actually play with it. It has always been Bumblebee she has asked for. So when Hasbro asked us if we would like to do a Transformers Bumblebee Turbo Changer Review she squealed in that way she does when she’s so excited she can’t actually form words.
Transformers Bumblebee Turbo Changer Review.
A lot smaller than I imagined but it is only 20cm. This bright yellow figure morphs into a car in literally seconds. Olivia wasted no time in getting it out of the box to put it to the test. Plus points already for being a damn sight easier to get out of the box than dolls!
I have never been convinced these things were as easy as it looks to convert from figure to car and to be honest a bit dubious on the quality. Could something really withstand being changed back and forth so often and not break? Especially with it being predominantly plastic.
But I seem to be proven wrong with this one. Olivia is loving changing it back and forth and after having a little play around with it myself I am satisfied it is sturdy enough and pretty damn easy to change too. You literally click the button circled in the picture below.
And then release the ones on the feet when you want to change it back from a car. (Also circled in this picture below too)
The Transformers Bumblebee Turbo Changer is a big hit in this house even if we haven’t seen the films. I’m sure Bumblebee will no doubt take his place alongside Olivia’s dolls to become either their bodyguard or their personal taxi! Who knows, maybe it will even convince her to watch one of the films too!
Transformers: Tiny Turbo Changers Blind Bags
To go alongside the full-sized figures accompanying the new release next month. You can also get tiny size versions, as the name suggests, in blind bags.
These are a massive hit with Olivia who seems to literally love blind bags. These are great for treats and a much easier and cheaper way to complete your collection for the film set.
Our blind bag had Optimus Prime. Olivia now has 2 Transformers and whilst the tiny turbo changer is a little bit more awkward to transform than the full size, she still managed it no problem. I have a feeling this will be her new thing and will definitely want to make sure she completes her collection.
So what do you think? I’m sure Olivia will have hours of fun now she has finally gotten her hands on her very own Bumblebee and no doubt soon the full collection of the tiny figures! If you would like to add any of the figures from the new Transformers: The Last Knight movie to your collection you can pick up Bumblebee Turbo Changer (suitable for ages 6+) or any of the other characters at Smyths for £24.99 you can also find the blind bags (age 5+) in store too.
