If you follow my Twitter and Instagram you may have noticed a few posts, for a few read like feed spam, for our little #AquaBeadsParty over the bank holiday weekend? We were kindly sent out an AquaBeads kit to be able to host our very own party and share with all you lovely readers (I think I have more than 1, possibly 2 maybe *crosses fingers*)
The kit contained masses of beads and equipment to enable Olivia and her posse, oh yes she has a posse now she is 10 after all, to have hours and hours of fun. All we had to do was round up said posse and get them round for a small gathering/party. Simple.
It’s safe to say Olivia was super excited and took great pride in getting everything ready and organised so everyone had enough bits to get started with and see what they could make together. I was in charge of the food because, what’s a party without food right!
What are AquaBeads?
AquaBeads have been on the market since 2004 and are a fun, safe toy for children aged 4 and upwards. AquaBeads are small unique beads that stick together with water. No heat required to permanently fix your bead creations. All you need to add is you imagination and AquaBeads come to life providing hours of entertainment.
AquasBeads provide the foundation for your child to create a whole host of different things using the beads. With template sheets to be able to use as a guide on the palette provided, or to just go freestyle, the possibilities are endless. Even though the girls are older now, Olivia had these beads at around 6/7 also, it didn’t change the way they used them. If anything it was actually more fun for them! There was no worrying about if it was going wrong, were they doing it right, was it going to turn out like it should. I actually think they had more fun when it wasn’t going to plan. The giggling and hysterics from the kitchen backing up my theory!
What Can You Actually Make?
There are so many things you can with the beads. From simple sweet designs, to more complicated houses/people. The girls all loved making rainbows! There are templates to guide you and a whole host of different bead types to use. You can follow the colours already used or go fro your own picks. The beauty is in that there are no rules, no limits. You just need beads, the palette and water.
How Easy Is It To Use?
So easy so, so easy. I didn’t need to explain to the girls how to do this at all, nor did they need any assistance. The set we received, The Beginners Studio is for ages 4+. Younger children could find this a little tricky and may need some guidance until they feel comfortable. The setting of the beads with water is easy too as it comes with a spray bottle although you may want to help with this! We ended up with some sort of water fight going on at one point!
We were challenged to see how many creations we could actually make. Well, the answer? We are still making them! Over a week after our party and the beads are still out. The beads are everywhere. Olivia is quite happy to sit down and create more designs *I say through gritted teeth as I’m picking them out of my rug* At the end of the party though the girls counted 30!
30 different designs and creations in a couple of hours. Most of them look great, some of them didn’t end up as good. At the end of the day it’s the fun that counts and AquaBeads definitely have the fun factor. I have a feeling these are going to be on Olivia’s (neverending) Christmas list this year to replenish her supplies!
Our Summer Holiday Party with AquaBeads was a big hit and I’m sure they will once again be a firm favourite of Olivia’s! Have you tried AquaBeads? What do you think of them?

*Disclaimer: I was sent a supply of AquaBeads including products seen in pictures to host a party for Olivia and her friends to show the fun you can have with AquaBeads. AquaBeads are recommended for children aged 4+ and should be used with caution around babies and young children due to the size of the beads. All thoughts and opinions are my own based on using the products supplied and previous experience using AquaBeads*
