Do You Need A WiFi Extender? You Can Win One Too!

Have you ever thought about a WiFi extender? I hadn’t until recently. I have pretty decent WiFi when it’s working (which isn’t a lot recently). But recently I started to notice it was wavering in certain parts of the house. I like to blog in the kitchen and my router is in the living room. Granted I don’t have a big house so I didn’t think I would have such an issue.

But an issue there was albeit a small one. I need to be able to work as quick as possible when I have deadlines looming and if the WiFi isn’t up to scratch it doesn’t make life easy for me. Hands up who gets stressed when they can’t get online! *raises both hands in the air* So when the opportunity arose to put a WiFi Extender to the test I thought I would give it a whirl and see if it made any difference.

What Does A Wifi Extender Do?

In a nutshell it extends your WiFi signal. It receives your signal, amplifies it and then transmits the boosted signal giving you more coverage than previously. It’s that easy.

Does It Work?

First I have to mention that lately my router keeps booting me off my network (if that’s the right phrase) oh the joys! So it took me a while to manage to get connected to my router. Talk about bad timing. I first attempted to connect my PC to the network but it wasn’t having any of it and refused to be connected.

So I took my laptop into the kitchen and tried with that. I found it a struggle to actually figure out how to connect it. I blame that on me being a complete techphobe. But I got there in the end, eventually after some choice words and persistence!

How To Connect.

So I received a WR01 WiFi extender from Pix-Link on Amazon. It retails at £10.99. It comes with a leaflet with step by step instructions on how to connect. Instructions that I couldn’t follow, sounds about right for me. As someone who doesn’t really know about IP addresses and such, it took a little bit of figuring out on my part. All you need to do really is to connect to the default IP address on the back of the extender. Log in with the username/password and then change the setting to match that of your home network. Not hard really is it!

However, when I got it it was all good. I connected and stayed connected. I have had full bars ever since, even in the kitchen. Result! Maybe a WiFi Extender is exactly what I needed after all. I have had it connected for a little while now and fingers crossed my issues are solved. So far I am still able to get internet in all corners of the house. I can see this being a big help. Especially for Olivia who gets frustrated when the WiFi isn’t as strong as she needs it when watching Zoella.

If you would like to order a WR01 Extender for a limited time (expires 31/01/17) you can use code NEVCN65H to get £3 off over in the Amazon Store.

my son’s bedroom is terrible for reception and keeps booting off his ps4 so a wifi extender would be ideal for his bedroom. 🙂

My shed 😀 my husband works from home and often finds having two kids underfoot rather distracting, so he uses his phone hotspot in his shed, but it’s not ideal. With a wifi extender we could use the house wifi in the shed, the kids wouldn’t have to tiptoe around and he could be more productive in his “home office ” 😀

Oh this would be fantastic because I sleep on my couch most nights to watch my tablet before I go to sleep because the wifi won’t stretch upstairs! It’s so annoying. I’d love to sleep in own own bed again but I need TV before bed! Boooo but fingers tightly crossed for this, it’s a lifesaver

Ah I keep thinking about buying one of these so the tablets have a stronger signal the other end of the flat! Xx
