Finding My Interior Style

In the past, I’ve not really had any particular interior style as such. As long as I liked it and it sort of matched, then I was on board. But then I got bit by the decorating bug and suddenly I got this urge to make sure that my rooms developed a style of their own.

Whilst I do browse interior styles online, I am still experimenting with what I do like, what works and what I can do on my budget. Things may take a little longer to reach the point where I am happy but I know I will get there in the end.

The one room where I really would love to experiment with a completely new interior style is my bedroom. I have seen so many images of beautiful bedrooms, I can’t help but think of the potential my little room has to develop and become a space that is not only functional but beautiful too.

I did make a start on changing the wallpaper and I am hoping before long I can make the changes I want to undertake.

But my dream interior style………..

There are so many different styles to choose from and whilst I do love them all. Not all of them feel me! Whilst I have a more modern Scandi inspired look for my living room, this isn’t something I feel that would work for my bedroom. I need something softer, more feminine perhaps.

My dream interior style for my bedroom is something that I would love to make a reality. Starting with the floor, I would love whitewashed floorboards. Not laminate flooring, but real wood floors. I absolutely love this type of floor for bedrooms and having always had carpets, this would be such a big change in my room.

Right now I do have a thing for white furniture and as I already have made this change in my living room and Olivia’s room, I would love to carry this through to my bedroom too. I love the antique Parisian style furniture. In white, of course, and whilst this isn’t something I am able to change right now, it is definitely on my wishlist for when I do need to upgrade my current bedroom furniture. This would really be a start in creating a whole French country look for my bedroom. A shabby chic feel and look for the furniture. I can also copy Olivia and invest in a wrought iron style bed frame to complete the look too.

I have decided that I would like soft pastel colours for the walls and accessories. Currently, I have teal and brown but I feel like now is the time for a new, clean and fresh looking palette for my room. The walls will be pink with a featured wallpaper with 3D style hearts on it.  But a fairly inexpensive way to help change this is to invest in some new bedding once the decoration is finished. https://www.juliancharles.co.uk/bedding has some great styles and colours that would perfectly compliment my new colour scheme and planned interior style change.

As my bedroom also doubles up as my work from home office, I also need to take this into account. Tucked away in a small alcove, makes a more defined office area for my desk and units but it is still part of the bedroom and I need to take this into account when decorating.

I do have a white office chair and plans are in motion to upgrade to a new sleeker white desk with storage for all my various stationery items and blog accessories. I am a notebook and diary addict! To go with this, I also need some white shelving to help pull it all together.

I really hope I manage to find my style and develop my taste to be able to transform my home from a mismatch of different styles to one uniform look throughout. I think I am pretty much happy with my living room style as it incorporates a new, more modern style from what I previously had and is exactly what I wanted.

It is going to be a work in progress for a long time I think as I take my time to decide on the perfect interior style I am looking for and the funds to be able to recreate this. But I know what I am aiming for so I can plan ahead to be able to nail down my new style for all around the home.
