I have recently made the decision to start looking for another part-time job. I have to be honest and say this isn’t something I wanted to be doing. But, circumstances change and right now, taking on more part-time work is what is needed to contribute to my income. Being time poor, I have been looking into ways that I can boost my earning from home.
Having to juggle another job whilst being a single parent alongside my current employment and the blog would be a big task. It makes sense to me to look into sources of income that I can fit in around my other commitments and will still leave me flexible enough to have time to myself without feeling like I am working 24/7. It’s a big ask I know, but I am hoping I manage to work something out that not only helps boost my income but means I am not out of the house working more than I need to be.
Creating My Own Business.
Looking into expanding my VA (virtual assistant) client base is top of my list for helping to boost my income this year. Currently, I am focussing on Facebook work and helping the clients I have schedule content that helps to spark conversation and engagement.
We have settled on schedules and practises that work for each different page. However, I know there are so many more things I could learn that would help me achieve even better results by teaching me new skills. This is where some financial investment will be required. These courses don’t come cheap and right now I am considering if it is worth looking into a small business loan to help me achieve my goal by funding the extra training I am looking for. this is an option that will pay off in the long term, not the immediate future though so it would take a lot of thought my part to make sure it is worth the investment.
This would also require me to devote a lot of time to learning new skills to be able to apply to my VA work to build up my knowledge and eventually, my client base. But this is definitely something I would like to pursue. So I am doing some research into what would be the best option for me to consider right now.
Expanding The Blog.
Regular readers will know that my blog doesn’t always fit the run of the mill standard blog. So, for me, building up a good solid readership has been a long hard slog. I want to improve my blog and produce more relevant content more frequently. This will definitely enable me to secure more opportunities to bring in more work. Thus eliminating the need for further employment.
Again, this option would require some investment from me both financially and timewise. Building on my social media presence and being more consistent with the work I produce and promoting it would be hugely beneficial for both myself and my blog. Again, this would be my preferred course of action and plans are already in place to help build on this for 2019.
Write The Book.
Oh, my book. Where do I start? Quite literally, where? I have pages and pages of Google Docs of the story that need to be connected together to make a story. In my head and my heart, I know exactly what is going to happen. I just need to get pen to paper this year and get those words out. I am a novice, it doesn’t need to be perfect, but it does need to be written.
With some advice from one of my favourite authors and a fabulous book to help me from one of my best blogging friends, I have some tools at my disposal to use. I just need to put them to good use and use my passion for writing for something more productive. Is it the challenge that is holding me back? Or maybe the fear that I’m just not good enough? I’m not sure but I know I am my own worst enemy when it comes to getting this book written!
Have you found any ways to boost your income working from home? I would love to hear about it if you have!
