I have officially been living on my own now for 17 years. I have always rented as the possibility to own my home has never come up or been an issue for me. My first ‘home’, the place I lived in independently at 20, was a bedsit.
I was in the attic space of a large converted house. There was a girl on the bottom floor who had a bedroom, living room and a kitchen, another girl on the middle floor who had one room and a separate kitchen and me on the top.
My room and my kitchen were opposite each other. The kitchen was at the top of the stairs and when you opened the door you had a step right as the door opened. When I was home I mostly kept this unlocked. There were 2 steps to my main living/sleeping area. It was a nice big room and you were able to separate it into a living and sleeping area which I liked. Both doors were locked so no one else could enter when I wasn’t there. We had a shared bathroom on the middle floor and we each had to put old style 50ps into the hot water meter when we wanted a bath. I cannot tell you how annoying this was when we all wanted a bath at the same time!
But I digress. From the bedsit, I have since moved home 5 times before ultimately ending up in my current home over 6 years ago. It has meant a lot of packing and unpacking and hiring of removal vans. I felt like I was becoming a dab hand in the moving process and by the time of my last move, I had found a better way of doing things.
Why You Should Use A Removal Company if You Can.
Moving house is stressful. Both with and without kids. You are literally packing your whole life into small boxes. And if that isn’t enough to send you over the edge, you then need to transport it safely to a new location. Whether that is close by or further afield. You need to make sure all your belongings arrive in the condition they left your former property in.
Going from one home to another has its challenges but why make it harder than it needs to be by doing all the work yourself. Removal companies are specialists in making sure your move is as easy as possible and take care of all the heavy lifting work for you. This is also the case if you use the removal company to also pack your home up too.
Hiring a removal company to do this for you means that you don’t have to worry about getting a van that is big enough or having to make too many trips back and forth, they will take care of all this for you when you arrange the booking making sure they assign you the right size van for your requirements. If you have chosen to have them pack up your home, all you need to do is take with you what you need or feel comfortable taking and they will take care fo the rest leaving one less thing to worry about.
If you prefer to pack your home up yourself you can still hire a companies service to help you with driving and loading/unloading.
The man and van hire company I chose gave me the option to pay extra to dismantle and reassemble furniture that couldn’t be taken as it was. But different companies have different terms and options to suit your needs. For example; The Man Van | Cheapest Man and Van Hire in London has different packages for home and offices depending on the size of your home and how long you require the services for. In addition, the van driver (and any additional removal staff you need) can assist you with your move.
In my experiences, this is definitely one of the easier ways to move. Having other people take on the job of transporting and/or packing up your belongings can drastically reduce the time and stress involved in moving home. This leaves you free to take care of any other important jobs or issues that might arise. Things like finding the kettle or settling the kids into their new home.
