Positivity and Manifesting Plus Competition
I am naturally not a very positive person. I will always see the glass as half full and ever so slightly cracked that is likely to smash in my hand as I take a drink. It is my go-to default setting. Or at least it was until recently.
You see, despite everything, I had a pretty great 2020. Overall it wasn’t a great year, and yeah, the covid thing was pretty horrific, but on a personal level, I had arguably one of my best years since hitting my 30s. It was like the turn of the decade decided it was my time to shine, and finally, I started settling into who I was.
I stopped listening to the diet crap on TV. I decided I would do what made me happy, and I was going to be a proper grown-up.
Regaining my Life in 2021
OK, that last bit is taking a bit too far, but honestly, there has never been a year where I had my sh*t together more than 2020. But then, 2021 hit. I got covid – the official line is ‘remember that time I nearly died of covid‘ because honestly, I felt like I was dying even though medically I wasn’t even close. Still, my dramatic tendencies were left intact.
But as the year progressed, yes, I am aware we still in April, things started looking more and more bleaker, and honestly, the whole nights, wet days, and not leaving my home come prison was weighing heavy on my soul. And my bones as I was eating my through the misery of having to recover from a particularly nasty bout of said covid. Boy, was I getting heavier.
At some point, I can’t remember when but something shifted, and it wasn’t just my now hefty frame off the sofa. I mean, negativity breeds negativity and looking on the bright side of life, I was finally on furlough as I moaned for back in the good old days of 2020. Sure it was later than the rest of the UK, but since both my boss and I were really ill, our little shop remained shut, and I was furloughed until we were fit enough to open up again.
So that was something, wasn’t it! Not only that, I was annoying myself with my binge-eating depressive mode and despite my fingers gracefully weaving tales to publish some frankly long overdue and much-needed original content, I wasn’t overly productive with my life.
Me and My Slimpod

I am 40 this year. I know I keep saying this, but I am, and I’ll be damned if I am wallowing my way into my 40s or spending my last few months as a 30 something auditioning for my 600lb life. The only place I needed 600lb was in my bank account – which was depleting thanks to my copious food orders.
So fast forward to now, and for all my worth, I have lost all reference of time scales due to the covid messing up my formative months of 2021. I have come out the other side of my near vegetative state – ironic as barely any vegetables passed my lips and off I signed to Slimpod.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. I thought you weren’t dieting. And I’m not in the traditional shoved down your throat by all forms of media diet, but I am working on controlling my appetite. It is going well. As we have sailed past the birthday season of March and now April, it is a work in progress. Still, finally, I am getting my appetite under control, and I am reducing what I am eating and all together, eating much healthier than previously.
Another welcome – or unwelcome side effect, depending on my mood, is my increased level of positivity and my urge to move more. I am trying to work out at least 4 times a week with gentle walking exercises with the ageless Lucy Wyndham Reid. Gone are my thrice weekly takeaway orders, and in has come eating more fruit and cooking healthier (ish) meals.
Manifesting and Positivity

I have also decided to look into manifesting. The act of encouraging good luck and fortune to you. Be it getting what you want, improving your financial situation, or generally helping make yourself happier. Hello, lottery win. Thank you very much.
It’s only been a few weeks, but I am sold, and after buying an abundance and prosperity jar from Spiritually By Stevie recently, my fortunes suddenly started looking up for me. Literally, the day it arrived, I received some great news on the work front. The day after, even better news, meaning I didn’t need to return to working in the shop if I didn’t want to, and honestly, I don’t want to.
Even better is that not only did I get a brand spanking new writing job I have been after for the longest time, I also got some great blog opps in too. And my sister held the jar for a minute or two, and boom, she won £100.
So what does this mean for me going forward? It means I am going to continue manifesting the positivity I want in my life. It’s not all about the money, but about better, happier, and healthier overall. Having the right frame of mind to get on with my day. To keep on top of everything, I need to keep encouraging abundance in all areas of my life, not just my bank account. But if that lottery win could land in my inbox right now, it wouldn’t be refused!
As I steamroll (pun intended) towards that big 4-0, things can only get better as the wise and righty D:Ream once sang. So excuse me while I add this song to my Spotify playlist to belt out along with my collection of cheesy but classic tunes in the way only a slightly rotund middle age approaching woman can.

It can be difficult to stay positive but I try my best
I’ve had a strange year but I try to stay positive to help others. Love the blog!
That photo of your food looks beautiful. Very tasty!
I really enjoyed reading this post, I’m definitely going to be trying a prosperity and abundance jar
I’m 40 this year too and need to do something about my life, fat, single with kids and constantly exhausted and in pain thanks to fibromyalgia too…think I’ll be taking a leaf out of your book and off to go look into manifesting and bringing more positivity into my life…anything is worth a try!
It can be quite tough some days with everything going on. I try to stay positive and what helps is my partner always being amazing. We’re expecting in a few months time and has honestly changed our lives for the better. I’m looking forward to the future and better days
What a brilliantly inspirational and positive post – will be keen to see how the slimpod goes as I’ve definitely noticed my waistline expand over the past year and want to make improvements by changing my mindset as well as my eating habits. Made me giggle at the end as we always have one of those pesky flies that sneaks in too!
I think with the last year, a lot of my positivity has been drained! Hoping that I can regain some enthusiasm as we leave the lockdown.
Personally I feel the best way is to tackle life one day at a time, as a family that’s how we’ve coped this last year.
Great to hear of your new found positivity, long may it continue!
I try to stay positive and focus on the little victories.
Keeping busy and engaged with life leads to positivity for me but t has been a very challenging time for all lets hope brighter times are ahead
The last few months have been a struggle but are picking up a little now the children are back in school
Congratulations on the new writing job and Bang Whoosh WOW you have totally sold me on the manifesting and prosperity jar !
One door closes, and another door opens. in my case, the last year has given me a much needed rest – and, although, I knew I was tired, I did know just how worn out I was. Not until I stopped – must have been running on fumes? I have had, actual time, to think about what is important – and, that is not earning enough to spend fortunes at the metro centre every Saturday – I dont need another dress or the latest phone. And, if I dont need to pay for these, then I dont need to work so many hours – maybe, I should go part time?
2021 so far has been a really tough year. I think the never ending cold weather hasn’t helped. I truly believe the second half of the year will be better though.
I try and stay positive, but things sometimes get the better of me.
I sometimes feel positive through gritteded teeth!
Positive affirmations are a great way of expressing seflflove
In every negative there is always a positive. You just have to look for it.
We all need to try and find positivity in these difficult times
Good Luck going forward, I always try to look at the positives in my life and not focus on the bad things too much but I must admit that 2020 has been really tough for us and 2021 has started very badly too!
This was a great read!
I think having a positive mindset is hugely important, not only for your own life but for relationships and people you meet. Nothing worse than spending the day with a misery.
My comfort eating has increased over lockdown and it’s interesting and entertaining to read about someone else who has food guilt from lockdown
I always try and remain positive and I always count my blessings each day because I know many people are a lot worse off than me x
Such an inspiring post – and I love the way you write. I am a glass half full person like my mum, whereas dad is very much a glass half empty, but there is so much I could relate to there. I’m currently in the process of turning my life around, and so far things haven’t looked better for about 6 years
I really enjoyed reading through this post! It made me chuckle!
I’m not the most positive person you will ever meet but I have been ignoring my negative thoughts and appreciating what I have in my life right now!
Congratulations on your new career and thank you for taking the time to type up this post 🙂 we need more realistic posts like this. 🙂
We’re trying to eat more healthily too, think that’s half the battle – healthy food, healthy mind.
I have always tried to remain positive and be in the mindset of ”We’ll get out of this”, but there have been days that have been hard.
I’m definitely not a positive person but I have been starting to be a little more positive since the end of lockdown!
I love the idea of manifestation but for someone who often has quite intrusive thoughts (,thanks childhood OCD) Iget abit scared that these are going to manifest, im kinda laughing at that but also …..not really!
Sending somebody I liked a Facebook message when I didn’t think I would see them again and getting a reply has made me positive. Fingers crossed!
Staying positive has been so important and I have loved having the extra time with my son.
I’m very socialable, and touchy, so lockdown has been surreal and hard-work!
i love doing comptions i work for my self garden and window cleaning
Wishing you luck with the healthy eating we keep trying off and on!
People always say how positive I am but on the inside I really don’t feel it, I always feel I have to put a mask on my real feelings so feel a bit embarrassed when people comment on how cheery I am.
It’s great to hear that you have ‘found’ your positivity. Walking is great, it’s surprising how much it can help with both weight loss and posture, although when you start it seems like you barely shuffle along a street and can’t wait to get home again! As you know, it really does get easier if you persevere. Good for you for taking control!
My husband just had his first colleague visit and they both admitted to struggling working from home after lockdown one and beyond. Ive had tears, highs,
loneliness and bad days , but we’ve got through it, and will see our daughters on Monday for the first time since a covid funeral in november. So we must look forward, be cautious and enjoy every moment
I try to be positive, thinking in a more positive way really makes me feel happier and I get things done a lot easier.
Life always seems a lot better with an open and positive attitude, as it gives you a lift.
Keeping positive is so important (and at times so difficult) so any advice or tips are always welcome. It’s infectious!
I absolutely love this post. I’m also someone who has a natural disposition towards the negative and suffer from fear of failure, which results in me not doing anything…so everything stays the same including the things I’m not happy with. But I wasn’t always this way…
I decided during the pandemic that I wanted to start injecting more fun and adventure into my life. I wanted to choose happiness and creativity. Within a few days of making that decision, I won a holiday to Greece! It’s the first time my husband and I will have gone on a proper holiday and we are so thrilled to have this opportunity.
I find journalling and decluttering also helps with a more positive mindset. I’m not going to look into the prosperity attractor jar!
Good luck and well done on the changes you have made. I find I can be quite a negative person and I am really trying to change that. I’ve started on diet and exercise change to make me feel better first, so I am having hello fresh delivered & I am walking more.
I’m trying to lose weight – that meal looks amazing!
I really want to have success with manifesting, trying to stay positive!
I’m also trying to lose weight, but am too easily tempted to choose calorie-ridden treats when the family are enjoying them.
Takeaways are also tempting, there’s a fabulous Italian cafe locally who started delivering their delicious pasta dishes during Covid,
It’s hard to resist! But so worth it! Like yourself, I’m trying to lose some weight, and hope that like yourself, I will keep choosing the healthier options.
Good luck
life has been very different over the past year, I have really appreciated the countryside, nature has really given me positive outlook and made a big difference to my general wellbeing
I’ll be 40 this week so I too am looking back at everything I have achieved so far!
The Slimpod sounds interesting. I am really struggling with my weight at the moment. I am definitely going to check it out! It’s been a very odd year. I have taken to TikTok and have somehow managed to gain nearly 500,000 followers, which has been fun!
There are a lot of times when positivity just escapes my radar and I fall into the hefty sofa slump, and this past year has probably been the darkest of my life. I know, though, that I’m escaping that now and feeling a little less negative about life and trying to get myself back into that positive frame of mind and food and time outside are two of the main ingredients in a positive outlook xx
2020 was just the worst year. I went to work, came home and sat on the sofa eating rubbish and watched TV and repeated this day in, day out and got fatter and unfitter by the day. I’ve decided 2021 will be different and have already started eating healthier.
That meal looks really tasty
I find the concept of manifesting very interesting – off to look it up and read on!
Your blog really resonates with me. The whole comfort and binge eating is what has held me back especially during lockdown. I have to eat until it’s all gone, not till I I’m full then get into the cycle the next day!!! I’m going to try the slimpod it sounds great and also delve into spirituality more, and most of all to try my hardest to think positive! Xx
I have really struggled with my earing habits over the past year. Working from home means the fridge and kitchen cupboards are very handy. Will take a leaf out of your book and give it a go
Well done on being so positive, so hard at the moment but think we are nearing the light at the end of the tunnel now (hopefully!)
I have gained a lot of weight during lockdown. I just don’t seem to be able to stop snacking.
Current events have made us all realize not to take life for granted and the small things in life mean the most and health and nature are everything needed for mind and soul wellbeing x
Wishing you luck with your healthy eating (I don’t do diets either) and exercise programme! And, don’t forget the old adage – Life begins at 40! At 51 I can totally confirm that is the case :o)
Interesting. I’ve been dabbling in that kind of manifesting thing lately. The reason is a slightly odd one. Over the past hellish year-and-a-bit, one of the few things that reliably gets a laugh out of me has been a certain daft light entertainment show from the 90s (and the preceding show presented by the same guy that shared many of the same features: archive episodes of both are on Youtube). So, as you do, I started wondering what had happened to him, Googled him etc. and found among other things that he’s into cosmic ordering.
A bit of research later, and I gathered that cosmic ordering wasn’t much different from some of the pagan spellcraft I practise, where you concentrate on what you desire to bring about, write it down and then usually burn it in an appropriately coloured candle flame to send it to the cosmos. (I’m simplifying a bit, but there are quite a lot of spells along those lines.) The main difference was that you’re meant to meditate about the universe and your connection to it as part of the process. I’m not good at meditation and don’t agree with some of the things it’s used for, but this use seemed harmless enough, so last Samhain, I wrote a cosmic order, listened to the trippiest song I could think of (‘Spiralmind’ by Ozric Tentacles) and managed to concentrate on the universe for the length of the song, which is quite some feat when you know how long it is.
I asked the universe for courage. Partly because that’s what has seemed so lacking in the world of late, but more because the advice stressed that belief in the process was vital. As an autistic person and abuse survivor, my default is to assume that things will go wrong for reasons I cannot predict, people won’t like me and as Nine Inch Nails/Johnny Cash would say, “Everyone I love goes away in the end”, but I figure I’ll have more chance of noticing when I face a choice between a cowardly option and a brave one, telling myself that the Universe has sent me courage and now’s the time to use it and then choosing the latter. So far, I’ve gone to a fair few demos, which is something. What good the demos do remains to be seen. May have to think carefully about what to ask the universe next.
I struggle myself with positivity due to mental health problems, but I do try to be and I try to look after myself and take time for myself in the evenings just the little things I think make a difference!
I know what you mean about eating with the Covid and lockdown. I get so bored I stuff my face! Although positivity is key!
Pleased you are feeling in more control of your eating habits
Glad you aren’t suffering from long Covid!
I can tell you from experience that the 40’s is THE BEST decade of your life, so enjoy it!
Well done for staying positive! I try but find it really difficult. That’s amazing how instantly your abundance and prosperity jar worked!
Very hard to be positive these days
After a bad day I always try and tell myself that life does not always go right, and that tomorrow is another day.
Such a great post about positivity it’s so important to stay positive during these times
I do try to be positive as much as I can some days are harder than others but it really do help my mental health to try and be positive in every situation
Nice blog post, I always try to stay positive, it’s been challenging with these constant lockdowns but hopefully things will improve now the vaccines are doing their rounds
Good luck with everything! Healthy eating and a balanced diet is bloomin’ hard, especially if it’s tied up with how you feel inside.
I truly struggle with this too!
Really interesting to read your thoughts on the power of positivity and manifestation. It’s amazing what power our minds have.
I find the concept of manifesting very interesting and is something I will look into and try myself
I am all for positivity. I truly believe that this has helped me to live my life to the full with muscular dystrophy. The mind is a very powerful thing!
I think we all need to regain our lives this year, your food looks tasty
this looks very nice
I do try to be positive but at times it is very difficult especially wit the virus!
Positivity is my motto ! Many dark days but focusing on the good always sees me through
I too have had a great year last year, with the exception of Covid. But the pandemic and enforced lockdowns have enabled me to do things I would never normally have been able to do when I was working and commuting. I now work from home which was something my employer had never envisaged implementing before, and I also opened up a little sideline shop on Etsy releasing my inner creativity. So pandemic aside, it was a good year for me
