There’s nothing worse than hearing the alarm go off in the morning…especially if you’ve been tossing and turning all night or you’ve been up with the baby more times than you can physically remember…
So if you’re feeling a little worse for wear on a morning, you could treat yourself to the best eye cream for dark circles or you could just hope you get a better night’s sleep tomorrow. But, rather than reaching for those matchsticks or an energy drink or two, have you thought about a more natural way to get an energy boost?

Light it up
Your body’s natural clock is dictated to by light. So, when you get up on a morning, try to spend as much time as possible in natural daylight. Whether that’s sitting with the kids at the breakfast table in a sunny window or enjoying your coffee in the early morning rays before they get up for school. Leave the blinds open slightly so you get some natural light in the rooms of your house, think of it as resetting your body clock.
It’s so tempting to just hit the snooze button and roll over – even if it’s just for another five minutes. But if you want to avoid feeling groggy and sluggish later then you need to get into the habit of hopping out of bed as soon as your alarm sounds. They say you should place your alarm at the other end of the room, so you have no choice but to get up – give it a try!
Once you’re up, you’re up. So now is the time to get moving. You can either take advantage of the quiet house and do a little yoga or Pilates (check out YouTube for some beginners videos) or get yourself into a full workout and get the body pumping. If working out on a morning is not great for you, then don’t worry. Whenever you feel a slump in energy, get yourself up and head outdoors for a walk. It could be around the block, the office or even the car park – getting your blood pumping will really wake you up and you’ll be ready for whatever the rest of the day can throw at you.
Get your H2O fix
There are so many benefits to drinking water, but if you’re suddenly feeling sluggish then get yourself a big glass and drink up. A common cause of fatigue is dehydration so get up and head to the sink if you’re at work the trip to the water cooler will also wake you up a bit.
You don’t need a picturesque walk or an Instagram worthy shot, just 20 minutes in a nice green park will do. Take in the fresh air and enjoy what nature has to offer. Spending time in the great outdoors also helps to relieve stress, so it’s a win, win!
