I don’t know if you’ve noticed but recently I have been making some changes to this here old blog of mine. Some little tweaks here and there. Big mess with my font change #fail and the addition of something shiny and new. The shiny newness is Olivia’s Corner.
A little home in a big world for my little girl. Well, in the age department seeing as she is nearly taller than me anyway! Over in Olivia’s Corner is a little part called Olivia’s Outfits. Being the show off poser girly she is, she just loves to show off what she is wearing. So we took this idea and ran with it. Coming soon is a brand spanking new series showcasing the styles of the children of some of our favourite bloggers.
So whilst I was pondering how we were going to feature some of Olivia’s favourite styles, I of course got thinking. What new clothes would she need to take her from summer to autumn and on to winter? Working opposite Primark does not help my bank balance at all especially now she can wear ladies sizes too!
Can I ask though, does anyone else notice that you spend a fortune on your kids so they look good, have nice clothes and shoes and all the while you are wearing the same oversized, but now a bit more so, jumper and boots combo you bought about 3 years ago? Can’t just be me can it? I seriously need to update my wardrobe and my look asap.
My go to style of over sized blouses/ tops and obligatory I’ve had this jumper over 3 years and it’s still so comfy shot! Featuring my favourite picture accessory, Olivia 😉
I actually surprised myself this summer by buying some new pieces here and there. A couple of them may even still be in fashion. There was also an upgrade from Primark leggings to proper plus size ones. There is no going back for me now, ever! I have also noticed a shift to more looser blouse style tops. As well as introducing some new, more flattering tees into the mix too.
Entrenched firmly in the ‘mum clothes’ category, slip on pumps and converse are also a wardrobe staple for me as is my pac a mac too. All carted around in my oversized, could possibly be a weekend bag but isn’t, handbag. Big enough for everything but the kitchen sink!
Should I be looking to change my style for the upcoming colder months? Thinking layers, cardigans, jumpers or maybe even a cape too. I can still stay comfy in my leggings by layering up my tops and adding some cute ankle boots to keep my toes warm and dry on the school run or school wave off I should say as Olivia takes herself these days.
Although I love the winter I don’t like to feel like I’m suffocating under my clothes. I still need them to be light and and loose so I don’t over heat when wearing a coat over the top. I do like tunics for this reason and even though I would opt for one in a thinner material having long sleeves like the styles you can buy from David Napier will make sure I am covered and not too cold.
My go to winter boots have to be flat or low heel ankle boots. Yet to find comfy that fit my calves, I go for ankle boots. last year I went with biker style boots and will possibly go for the same style again this year. I’m looking forward to pairing them with some over sized cardigans and longline layered tops I bought in the sales earlier in the year.
Do you update your style with the changing months or are you like me? Adapt what you have and hope you can make do until the January sales? This year I will be recycling last years big old winter coat, grabbing some new boots and just going for gold with layering!
