Guest Post: 5 Tips for Taking Time Out and De-Stressing as A Mum
I’m so excited to be writing a guest post for Tracey here on One Frazzled Mum. I have to be honest I do feel a little frazzled myself at the moment. I’m a Mother and blogger and have the added bonus of chronic illness so I have been burning the wick at both ends recently.
Today I thought I’d share 5 tips for taking time out and de-stressing as a Mum. It’s something I’m learning to do and I hope will be helpful to any Mother who finds themselves feeling a little burnt out, busy and stressed.
So here are my 5 top tips:
Breathing
Breathing and meditating is good for the body. I find when I am stressed to the max, taking time out in a quiet peaceful room and doing breathing exercises can really help me to feel calm and clear mind to battle the tasks ahead.
Journal Writing
I really do enjoy writing. Sometimes when I am stressed out, have a problem or something difficult is going on, the best thing I can do is write about it. I also like to mind map goals, problems and solutions and find putting pen to paper can really help me to feel more in control when so much is going on in life.

Cleaning
For some cleaning is no fun but for me cleaning is really quite therapeutic. Sometimes when I need a break from blog work or other tasks, I will go into the kitchen for 10 minutes and tidy up, wipe the sides and clear away. The home is never going to be perfect when you have a family. But doing a little cleaning here and there really can help me to feel more peaceful and less stressed. A decluttered home to me is a more relaxing home.
Talking
Believe it or not actually sitting down and having a chat, whether it be with my husband, or over the phone with friends can help me to relax. I guess having a chat with someone allows you to simply sit and chill out and talk away. I don’t do this enough and should follow my own advice and get on the phone more.
Resting
It can be really hard to take a break as a Mother but sometimes a catnap can really work wonders for me. It’s great to take a nap if and when I can. And it gives me the energy to get through the rest of the day. Not all parents are able to take a break. But if you can get even one hour of rest it can be a great way to rest up and build your reserves for the rest of the day.
I hope you like my tips for de-stressing and they come in handy for you.

As a sometimes stressed out dad I can agree that cleaning actually does help – always feel better after it and like I’ve achieved something.
I really like this post! it’s so important to acknowledge that this is even a thing! We all get frazzled and we must start treating it as a priority, it’s easy to put right with the above x
thanks for sharing this on your blog. 🙂 Have a lovely holiday 🙂
