Win a £20 Amazon Voucher in Time for Christmas

EDIT: Due to a mistake in entering the date in my terms and conditions, I have honoured the ending date stated and extended the gleam widget to account for this. The previous ending date in the widget was 31st October 2020 with the terms and conditions stating the ending date was 30th November 2020.

Who fancies another competition? I am declaring 2020 the year we give back. We have been through a lot this year and with no end in sight to the global pandemic, being kind is something we can do that doesn’t cause harm to anyone else.

It’s been a crazy year so far, and I have had one hell of a rollercoaster ride. I started as a single mum with one blog, and I will be ending it with over 5 and currently being a part-time parent. Olivia had decided she is happier splitting her time between her dad and me and you know what, if it makes her happy then I am happy too. In the bigger picture, as long as she is healthy and happy, what does it matter where she lives. Plus there is nothing wrong with her having a healthy relationship with both parents despite us not being together. And I for one am happy to facilitate her relationship with her dad and his partner (who Olivia adores and vice versa).

This year, we are proud to be supporting as many people as we can be.

Supporting Small Businesses

pink round wooden hoop on a white wall with the name olivia and flowers on the top of the hoop

As much as possible, I am going to be ordering as many gifts as possible from small businesses. I have ordered Olivia a present from a seller off Etsy, and I am making further purchases with her for more presents. I have ordered random items from small businesses that pop up in my Facebook feed. And I will be looking for as many possible.

Coupled with some purchases from a friend’s business who sells homemade wax melts and I am already getting ahead with my support this Christmas.

Supporting Charities

gold metal reverse advent calendar from Ellie Ellie

This year, for the first time, we are doing the reverse advent calendar. If you don’t know what this is, it is an advent calendar that requires you to add an item to a hamper to gift to those less fortunate. This consists of dried and canned food goods and/or toiletries. Olivia wants to donate more items, and I am roping some friends and family members to donate alongside me. I purchased our reusable calendar from Ellie Ellie, another small business last month.

We have bought our Alder Hey PJs, and I am making a conscious effort to click yes when shopping online to include charity donations to my payments (currently being done on Paypal).

How Can You Join In?

I would love it if you joined in and helped out where you can. It needn’t be a huge donation or big purchase from a smaller retailer, but every little does help and even buying one or two more gifts from independent retailers will give them a boost. In 2020 supporting each other has never been more important.

And on that note;

To thank you all for your support this year – especially those who interact with me regularly on Facebook. I am running another one of my £20 Amazon voucher competitions finishing in time for Christmas. This might be the last one of the year, so make sure to share this with all of your friends who you think would like to enter.

I just want to get my family around the table together for Christmas lunch. I’ve agreed with my other half that we won’t buy each other gifts this year because we don’t want to be buying just for the sake of it. We would rather wait until the little shops are open again and treat ourselves to a shopping spree when we can touch and feel what we are buying
