90s Nostalgia, Take That and the Spice Girls
The windows were down and I could feel the rush of cool air hit me over and over as the car moved through the traffic. There was nothing quite like the feeling of sitting in the backseat of a car with the windows down listening to the radio. I loved those times when you were carefree and all you needed to know was the words to the songs. Sure, they weren’t songs I would choose but my time would come. And surely, when I was the driver, picking my own music, I would make sure I didn’t turn the engine off just as the best song came on. It was as if they knew you had arrived at your destination and were playing a cruel joke.
Times have changed and I am now that driver. Music in the car is still a staple during our journeys as is me making Olivia listen to music I enjoy and her eye rolling as she bemoans the fact that ‘it’s old people’ music. The 90s nostalgia is still strong with me. We have come full circle and still, radio stations know when you about to leave your car and still play your current favourite song just as you pull up!
Everything Changes but You!
That includes my love of music and how watching my favourite singers and bands live has grown over the years! I will never forget that day, during the summer, not long after my 14th birthday when it was confirmed that actually, for the first time in my life I was going to a real-life concert.
And not just any concert, it was Take That! OMG!!!!! I can literally still hear 14 years old me screaming till I was hoarse. It was in the arena in Manchester, the arena in Liverpool was still a far off dream. It was their home town and Never Forget had just been released and the press release of their break up still over 6 months away.
I was living the dream.
Never Forget hit number one and they were recording the song for Top of the Tops the next day. I was so excited I could have literally combusted on the spot. I didn’t obviously but that night was something I still haven’t stopped talking about all these years later. I will ‘Never Forget’ (sorry, I totally went there again!) that once in a lifetime opportunity.
It’s been 24 years this year since that day and I recently have been back to Manchester to see Michael Buble for the third time. Little did I know all those years ago that that one event would change how I enjoyed music for years to come. The days of the perm, bum bags and shell suits have long gone. But I am still 5 foot 2 inches, have the same name and still love going to see my favourite stars live in concert.
90s Nostalgia, Walkers and the Spice Girls.
But would I share my Walkers with my favourite boys? Even for the chance to gain a once in a lifetime opportunity? Honestly, I actually would! Would you? Anything to relive those heady times as a lovestruck teen. Seriously you have to love a bit of 90s nostalgia!
*the competition is now closed*
Recently fans were offered the chance to show just how big of a Spice Girls fan they are to be in with the chance to win a VIP package to see the ultimate girl group live on their tour. Amazing! Dev here lost his chance to see his favourite group live in concert but some lucky winner out there is still in it to win it.
It’s definitely not going to be me but it could be you! Did you enter? What would you give to see your favourite group/singer live in action? Would you share your Walkers or is that a step too far? Share with me some of your favourite 90s nostalgia memories I would love to hear them.

Loved the 90’s – I was a newlywed and they were some great years
I would love to turn back time to the 90s! I loved it, inflatable back packs, glow in the dark stars, great music <3
I’ve always been a boy bands fan but I remember when Take That came on the scene my 14-year-old self said she was determined not to like them. I managed to last out until the released Pray. However, I accidentally caught a performance on another TV show and fell in love with Robbie Williams. Not long after that, I attended my first gig and from that moment on it was Gary Barlow and nobody else.
I love 90’s pop,but 80’s wins in our house x
Love some ’90s pop; more so now than I did at the time, in fact!
