Olivia has a Superhero day at school today. Only it’s a Superhero day with a difference. A Superhero is not only someone straight out of the pages of a comic book or graphic novel. A Superhero isn’t just someone who has super powers, or can fly. A Superhero is more than someone who wears an identity covering costume allowing them to lead a double life.
A Superhero can be anyone. It can be you or me. It can be your mum, dad, brother, sister or complete stranger. We may not have superpowers but we all have the ability to help others and impact on their lives in a positive way. This is the message the school sent out and was the only brief they were given. Who exactly would be their hero? How would you decide that person was worthy of the title?
Olivia was adamant from the day she brought the letter home she was going to be Jade from Little Mix. Jade is her favourite member and as ‘she couldn’t be all of them’, her words not mine she would go for Jade. Why Little Mix? I know what you are thinking, I was too, she wants to be like her favourite pop star obviously!
Wrong. Aside from being beautiful and talented young ladies Little Mix also work closely with many different charities. You may know of their Sports Relief charity single ‘Word Up’ and appearing in charity concerts for Children in Need. But the girls are also backed the #deletecyberbullying project by joining forces with Beat Bullying the largest anti-bullying organisation in Europe in 2014.
As far as role models go I think the girls are brilliant role models and Olivia made a great choice.
Olivia is wearing a pink blouse from F&F, size 12-13 with a black pinafore dress age 13-14, from Sophie at internationale. Black leggings from F&F age 11-12 and silver pumps from Matalan size 4. Her nan made her bowtie and hair band and she also has purple hair chalk in her hair too!
The Little Mix girls wear some amazing outfits and Olivia had a specific one in mind. She wanted to go with the bow tie/shorts look but she didn’t have these exact clothes in so she went for a similar look and accessorised with a bright hairband and bow tie.
Not a perfect match (I couldn’t find the exact image her dad sent me to go off and I couldn’t use that one for copyright of course) but she was happy enough with it in the end. Who is your Hero?
