I was recently invited to take part in Families Online #EveryMomentCounts Challenge. With Olivia having recently started secondary school, I thought it would be nice to get involved and document some moments from our week to share with you.
You may have seen some posts on my social media pages but here is a full rundown of the challenge.
We were given 7 themes, one for every day of the week, to use to capture a picture that fits from our day. We could be as simple or as imaginative as we wanted but the idea behind it was to make sure that #EveryMomentCounts.
- 3 Things
Pretty simple really. Below are my pictures for the challenge and why I picked them.

We're taking part in the @familiesuk #everymomentcounts campaign. Now Olivia is at secondary school her days are longer and her time at home to do the things we used to do together is even more important. So tonight we are having a night off from the world and watching Aladdin in bed. No blogging, no homework, no distractions. Just us time.
We love nothing better than taking some time out together and watching a film. As it’s just the two of us at home we spend a lot of time together but we always make sure to take some time to pause our day and just relax when we can. No homework, no housework, no blogging. Monday we watched Aladdin one of our favourite Disney films.
We don’t have many traditions as a family together, but one we have every year come September is homemade soup. Out comes the slow cooker! We always have to have a roast dinner the day before. Roast chicken always tastes better in the soup. In goes any veg, chicken and whatever else we have lying around the house. One lot makes enough to last us for a little while so Olivia never runs out of one of her favourite homemade meals and I get to sneak in all that stuff she says she doesn’t like. But shhh….. don’t tell her my secret!
We have had a particularly hard time adapting to new the schedule and demands of secondary school life and at times it’s been rather hairy, to say the least. So it’s nice to see Olivia find her smile and relax again. Even if I did have to put up with listening to her favourite YouTubers for a while!
4. 3 things
Oh, my, where to start! These are our 3 most favourite things currently. We make no apologies for being unashamedly girly. In no particular order our 3 current favourite things are unicorns (yes that is a Christmas tree decoration), candles (unicorn theme of course!) and chocolate.
This one is a pic I took in work. I work in greengrocers and Olivia loves to come up after school when I’m in work and help us out. Like our lives, the fruit and veg are always so colourful and bright and fun and it means she gets to see what I do all day and we can catch up on her day in the car on the way home!
Love is family. We may just be a unit of two at home. But we are very lucky we have family close by to help us out a lot. My family had Olivia over the weekend for me whilst I was at work and a blogging conference. I snapped this picture of my youngest niece and only nephew after they had been playing with Olivia and my eldest niece. These two have a strong bond together and all of the kids are really close. Olivia may not have siblings but with a close family like ours, she has everything she needs.
For this one, I thought I would reflect on the week gone by. It’s been hectic and crazy and I had a short overnight stay in Manchester over the weekend, but we still managed to spend quality time together and cherish those little moments we captured on camera for this challenge.
What little moments would you capture for #EveryMomentCounts?
