Putting Your Stamp on your Home

You might not always feel happy to come back to your home. If you’ve had a terrible day at work, and you know you’ve got a million and one things to do when you get home, then thinking of your home as a happy place just isn’t going to happen. On the other hand, you’ll have those days where you wish nothing more than to be at home doing nothing!

Most of us have all got something that we really wish we could change about our homes. It doesn’t even need to be big changes. Just a little change here and there, and you might be able to turn your house into the happy home you crave. It goes without saying that when you move into your home, you need to put your stamp on it. Everyone has different tastes and styles and what works for one might not work for another. So finding what works for you to make your house feel like your home is paramount to creating the happy home environment we all want.

The Old Bathroom

If you’ve got an old bathroom at the minute, chances are you will be wanting to upgrade it as soon as you can. Remodelling your bathroom is a big job and as such, requires a lot of planning and shopping around to find the design and style that suits you and your home.

Yes, it might be expensive, but it would add value to your home, and it’ll make it a lot more appealing to use.

Think of all the new things you might need, and begin to create your perfect bathroom. Think of basin vanity units, a walk-in shower, a deep sunk bath or a wall towel rack that heats up. Starting from scratch means you can create a bathroom oasis that will last for years. don’t forget to incorporate your walls too. Do you want painted walls or fully tiled? For me, I would have to go with fully tiled and a nice white gloss finish to give it an extra dimension and for the wow factor too!

Is Your Home Missing Something?

The lack of life in your home is definitely not going to make it a happy place, but it’s what we want to try and change about it all. Your home has got to have some sort of flare to it for it to have some life. So, it could be quirky accessories or quirky colours dotted around here and there. One thing a lot of people are warming to the idea of at the minute, which would literally bring life into your home, is houseplants. You can get them from pretty much any gardening shop, and you can get any shape or size that you want. But, because the indoor houseplants are so bright and green, it helps to bring that natural colour to the room that it might have previously been missing.

Just something a little different like this can make all the difference to the happiness of your home. Whilst this isn’t decorrelated, you also need to make sure your home has a good energy. If you have children, allow them to always be playing and making noise and having fun. There’s nothing worse than a quiet dull house, and children can most definitely change that for you if you let them.

A Bit Of Organisation

It’s important to have a bit of organisation within your home because, without it, you can often feel as though your mind is a little bit all over the shop. You won’t know where things are, you’ll find things are cluttered, and it can be so frustrating that it plays on your mind. There’s nothing worse than knowing you’re going to come home from work to a home that always needs sorting, so, it’s time to get organising.

First of all, think about what’s not actually organised about your home. Is it that you have a million and one toys lying around from your children all of the time, or is it that you feel as though you have hoarded things during your time in the home? If your issue is the mess your children are creating from toys, the solution is simple.

If their main room to play in is the living room, you could get two futons that lift up. They look really stylish, and can be used to make a normal chair one where you can put your feet up! But, then when they lift up, you have the perfect place to hide all of their toys, but allowing them to be easy to access. If it’s the fact that you feel as though you’ve hoarded, change that! All you have to do is take items you don’t want or need to a charity shop. If you’re looking to make money, you could sell the items on an online website!

Keeping It Modern

If you want to keep it modern, you’re going to have to think about things such as technology, and keeping the decor and furniture up to date. For example, if you were to go into your living room now and rip up all of the old carpets, throw out the old furniture, rip down the wallpaper and start again, you could make that living room ultra modern in days. It’s all about having fresh things, which we know isn’t always possible due to money.

If this is your aim then you should focus on technology for that modern feel throughout your home. It could be a nice new flat screen TV in the living room, brand new kitchen appliances that make it look like something from the GBBO or something like the Amazon Echo.

But deep down we all know that making a happy home isn’t always about how it looks but how it feels and if you feel good being your home, you are already part of the way there. Your home is an extension of you, so make the changes, spruce it up a little and find the decor and style that makes you happy and happy to be home.
