My 2016 Goals: No New Years Resolutions

Do people still make New Years Resolutions? I haven’t made them for years to be honest and wasn’t even sure if people did anymore? I’ll be honest, I never quite got it you know. I have always thought that well, there’s no time like the present if you need to stop doing something, like eating to much cake, or to start doing something, that’ll be the gym membership I keep going on about, or even just change something, like your knickers 😉

Ever the procrastinator, with my get up and go having gone a good few years back to god only knows where, I kinda need to practise what I preach these days. Looking at the second, ok third piece of cake I am about to eat and thinking ‘man I need to start eating better’ is pretty much as far as it goes these days. Changing the sheets is considered a workout and seeing new things, is taking the scenic bus route home! I have recently found myself pining for the good old days. Saying to my sister whilst watching the girls in the pool the other day, remember when we used to live in the pool too. Workout, swim. Swim with girls then aqua class to finish off. I found myself missing who I used to be. Back before everything changed and I gave it all up for a promotion at work.

With this in mind I decided that while I didn’t want to do the whole new years resolution thing come January 1st 2016, I do want to make some changes now I have a new job and reduced my hours. I will need something to keep me off the sofa and the cake out of my mouth! This is to incorporate my Blogging Goals from last month too as I will now have more time to work on this.

So I give you My 2016 Goals.
  1. Get back to the gym. As funny as it sounds considering I am currently packing a few extra pounds on various parts of my body, I really enjoyed going to the gym/swimming/taking classes so I want to get back into this.
  2. Change my diet. The main contributing factor to the above mentioned extra pounds is the fact that all the bad stuff tastes soooo good and with my will power being MIA well, recipe for disaster isn’t it. Tut tut. Over the summer I actually won a slimpod to help me with controlling my chocolate intake so I will be using this again to help cut down.
  3. Work on my blog. I am slowly getting the hang of all the SEO stuff but still have a long way to go and really want to improve as much as possible.
  4. Carry on writing my story. I started writing a story on the blog and currently have it in 3 parts (click here for part 1) I have loved reading it and need to take it to the next level and see if I have it in me to write an actual proper real book!
  5. Find a new hobby. At my interview for my new job they asked the dreaded question…… what do you like to do in your spare time dum dum dummmmmm. Gah, truth be told, apart from reading, blogging and trying to keep my sh*t together, I actually don’t do anything at all, so 2016 is the perfect year to find a new hobby.

I know I am absolutely rubbish at updating how I am getting on with my goals/to-do lists/blogging bucket list but I have my planner to organise me and my blogging so hopefully I will remember to do this a bit more next year hey.

Do you make new years resolutions? What are your aims for the new year and do you think I will be able to keep to mine? Ha, wish me luck I think I will need it

Spread the love
