How to Plan your Wedding Decorations

One of the most significant areas of wedding planning is picking the decorations. It can be hard work, collecting all of the decorations that you will use for your big day. You may want to make some, and you might buy or borrow other items. You will be surprised how quickly it all mounts up, and before you know it, you will have stacks of wedding-related items waiting patiently for their moment.

You will want your wedding to look perfect. There are no two ways about it. Every detail should be thought through, and you will need to have some great organization skills to get it all prepared.

Here are some things that you may want to consider when it comes to planning the ways in which your wedding will be decorated.

Start With A Theme That Suits You

You may want to start your decoration planning with a theme. This could be anything, from an aesthetic, or colour scheme. Alternatively, it could be related to a book, film, or band. There are no rules when it comes to picking a theme, and what is right for you is the most significant aspect.

You can choose a popular wedding theme like rustic or go for something unique like steampunk style and fashion. Whether you want a simple or creative wedding is all up to you. It’s your special day, so don’t be afraid to do and choose whatever makes you happy. Create a scrapbook, or a Pinterest board to keep lots of ideas around your theme. The more information you can collect, the better. You will find that you get lots of inspiration from looking at other weddings.

Do It Yourself- Or, Get Someone Else To Do It For You

Adding your personal touch is what wedding planning is all about. The day should say something about you as a couple, and this should be reflected in the decorations. There is no better way to do this than to add a bit of a personal touch.

If you have craft skills, you may want to make the decorations yourself. You will need to make sure that you have plenty of time to get everything prepared, as it can start to get quite time-consuming and stressful as you get closer to the date.

If you don’t know one end of a glue gun from another, you may want to consider asking any of your bridesmaids or groomsmen with artistic flair if they are able to help out making some items. The more hands you have, the easier it will be. You’ll also still get the personal aesthetic. However, the items may look better than if you had have tried to make them.

Selecting The Right Flowers

Picking flowers for your wedding can be tricky. You will need to match the colours with dresses and suits. Then you’ll want to make sure that nobody is allergic to any specific flowers. You’ll want flowers that are growing in season. They’ll need to be fresh so that they last the day without wilting.

Picking the flowers may mean a trip to a florist, or you might want to pick your wildflowers, like the kidney vetch. Making your own arrangements can make a lovely, personal touch to them.

Room Decorations

You can easily make some bunting that can fill your venue. The joy of making it yourself means you can get exactly the colour scheme or pattern that you want, without having to shop around.

You can also make lots of decorations to go around the room, such as pinwheels and paper chains. Anything that uses paper hearts could look cute too.

String lights can make a very pretty effect. You may need a few sets of lights, so start shopping early and pick up some bargains when you find them, Alternatively, ask people you know if they have any that you can borrow.

Table Decorations

The table is the area where you have the most opportunity to get creative. If you have opted for a specific theme based on something that you are passionate about, you may want to use the tables as a way of bringing out your enthusiasm for your theme.

You can put any kind of standing decorations that you think would look good. You can create some exciting centrepieces that will be real talking points.

Photos on your tables can make a nice touch. You could include pictures of yourselves, but if you select ones that are relevant to the people whose table it will be.

You could also use photos of your guest instead of their name card. If you have any particularly nice, or amusing photos that you can use, there is never a better time than on your wedding.

My daughter was getting married next year, but doesn’t know if she will be able to now as everywhere will be booked up by people who sadly couldn’t get married this year. But all tips are great tips, thank you
