Elf On The Shelf Activities with Design Bundles
Dear Santa,
Listen, I can explain, honestly! I mean, 2020, it has been a year, hasn’t it! And I know I may have drunk a little bit too much gin. OK, and vodka and wine and I know I ate all the pies along with the chocolate and yes, I ordered way too many takeouts but…..
I supported the economy, and seriously, I was doing my part to keep Great Britain going, I swear! However, we need to chat. We need to discuss something I wasn’t ready for and was not expecting.
(Images to prove I am not overdramatic as has been mentioned by a few people)
You see, Elvis arrived. Our elf.

Or should I say naughty imp! Firstly, I do not think he quarantined for the required 14 days. Is the North Pole on the exclusion list? I don’t know. But seeing him ride cowboy style on my brand new Christmas tree in the back garden was somewhat of a shock I have to say!

Since that fateful day, I feel like Elvis has made himself at home in my home and is determined to cause as much mischief as possible during his time here (please tell me he is going home come Christmas day?)

He has been quite literally swinging on the lampshades, inviting his little elf buddies over for tea dates (He did wear a mask, but I really hope they are in his bubble!) and generally creating mischief wherever he goes.

Oh before I forget, Elvis is partial to a coffee with 3 doughnuts for breakfast.

I mean, I am too, but I don’t think this is the example you thought he would be setting for me.
It’s been a couple of weeks since his big entrance, and I have to admit he isn’t all bad. Elvis spent a solid weekend helping me catch up with my blogging work and replying to emails. Although I don’t think any of my contacts speak elf! I hope they forgive me.

And I have to thank him for the fun treats and activities he brought us too. He had enough for 12 whole days of fun even if he did cause a bit of mischief on arrival! I even think Olivia has warmed to him of late too.
We really enjoyed the treats he brought along and the fun games too. Olivia loves colouring in, so this activity was a massive hit. The baking didn’t go exactly to plan, but then again, it never does in this house, to be honest. I am sure you know how bad we are at baking. Despite this, the elf on the shelf activities were great!

To make Elvis feel more at home, I bought him a little bed and jacket. It is really chilly here up north, and as he had his mask with him, he was allowed out in public. We are even looking at arranging a meet up with his friend Mollie Glitterpants – socially distanced, of course, who I am sure you know, is my niece’s mischievous elf. I am so glad she isn’t in my bubble. You really do need a word with that one Santa she is out of control.
Anyway, I just wanted to update you on how we are getting on with Elvis as we have never had an elf before. I even think I might be OK with him coming back next year too, but I will confirm with you in the elf satisfaction survey I presume you will be emailed after the big day?
Lots of Love,
Tracey.
Elf on the Shelf Activities with Design Bundles.
As you may have seen on my social media channels, I have been working with Design Bundles to develop some fun elf on the shelf activities. They were kind enough to send me 12 days worth of activities from independent sellers on Etsy.
Now, I know what you are thinking, Olivia is 14, and clearly, she doesn’t believe in Santa. Yes, this is true. However, we have been partaking in Elf on the Shelf activities with little Miss A, who has helped us with many blog activity in the past.
So we thought, as we can’t celebrate in the run-up to Christmas as we would like, having our own elf to share with her would be a great alternative. Right now, I think Elvis has become part of the family, and he will most definitely be a Christmas fixture for years to come.

Design Bundles have some great resources for all your crafting needs. They have a range of free resources for you to use along with a subscription membership and so many great deals for all your crafting needs. From free fonts to paper cutting templates, Design Bundles is a crafters paradise and can really help you to get your craft on with the kids or even just for yourself this Christmas!
If you need any inspiration, then check out our 12 days of elf fun thanks to Design Bundles. As a side note; I will be sharing all the companies used to create this 12 days of creative fun inspiration as I am championing small businesses this year.
12 Days of Elf on The Shelf Activities.
Day 1

Baking. Have your elf ready to help the kids get creative in the kitchen. You can use anything you have at home or even have your elf create a fun Christmas themed breakfast! Our baking kit is courtesy of Craft and Crumb.
Day 2

Dress Up. Elvis has a mask, but he also has some material to kit him out with a new look. We bought him a leather jacket, but I think he needs a Christmas jumper too! Cutesy Face Masks on Etsy
Day 3

Colouring. But not on the walls, or can you? We were gifted with colouring sheets but why not try hanging paper on the walls (with something in between the wall and paper) and set the elf loose ‘decorating the house’ and then the kids can help! Or roll some paper out on the floor and for a fun rainy day activity!
Day 4

Christmas Cards. Teeny tiny elves need teeny tiny Christmas cards for their elf friends. Cut up small pieces of paper and get creative on your tiny Christmas cards. Maybe your elf knows another elf who is local who also wants to send some Christmas cards? Mollie Glitterpants would love this! Tiny Cards from Big Dog and Co.
Day 5

Decorating. We have been sent a bauble to decorate, but you can choose anything else you have around the house. We don’t recommend setting your elf for painting the ceiling with real paint, however, if you have a mischievous elf, like Elvis, then dabbling in a bit of home decor would be right up their street! The Vintage Daisy Store and Miriam Emerton have some great designs you can use!
Day 6

Scavenger Hunt. We love to go for Sunday Walks, and as yet, we haven’t taken Elvis. But we do have a decent sized back garden to set up a scavenger hunt. It is really easy to set this one up inside or outside the house using pretty much anything you can think of. Turn it into a party game for more fun. Add alcohol as required!
Day 7

Letters to Santa. What do your kids want to say to Santa? Personally, I need to dish the dirt on Elvis and tell him exactly what this little elf has been getting up to. But don’t let your elf persuade the kids what to write!
Day 8

Window Display. Elf for sale – Elvis this is my fireplace, not my window! Get the kids to help their elf create a miniature window display that reminds them of home! Use spray snow, window chalks or stick pictures they have drawn in the window to put up next to your elf’s efforts! Stickerscape has some great window stickers you can use to help create your window display.
Day 9

Gifting. Have your elf gift your children a little present or help create a present for someone they think deserves it. This is a nice and easy one to set up.
Day 10

Kindness. Elvis might be cheeky, but he has a good heart, and deep down all elves do! He is wearing a bracelet for Olivia she has been asking for!
Set up your elf for a day of kindness and giving back to others and have everyone join in with random acts of kindness. Maybe fill a box with suggestions such as telling someone they look nice. Or help someone at school who is struggling. Or simply giving hugs to those who need it (covid safe of course).
Day 11

A Christmas Table. Keep this one for closer to the big day and have the elf set up a Christmas spread on the table to make sure everything is ready for Christmas day! Make placemats, name cards, seat labels and more. This Santa milk bottle is from Pheonix and Bell.
Day 12

Wrapping. Present wrapping or rapping to music. Both are excellent suggestions! Have your elf set up for a Christmas movie day with popcorn and everything you need to get your gift wrapping on!. Christmas pen from The Pen Snickity Co.
So there we go! What do you think of our elf on the shelf activities? Should Elvis come back again next year?

Comments
Great ideas, thank you.
I am struggling this year with new and fun adventures for the elf to partake in over night. But love the kindness ideas and gifting to someone.
An idea that i have seen from a friend which i thought was great was to leave an empty box with a note to say this is here for you to get rid of any toys you no longer need, to gift to other boys and girls.
