Recently I heard from Boo Roo and Tigger Too that the people over at Tiger Sheds were holding a competition to create your very own adult only space. This is the stuff of dreams here people! For me, who loves her own company and craves silence and a distraction-free environment, this would be amazing.
At home, during the week I do get this in my little office area. I sit at my desk in complete silence, with only the sound of the traffic outside and my fingers tapping on the keyboard to keep me company. and I love it. But somedays I would love to not hear the traffic. To be able to shut out the world and lock me away in a space just for me, me and I!
My Dream Adult Only Space
For this, I would need a shed. But in the same way you wouldn’t get me camping, it couldn’t be any old shed. Definitely a log cabin for me! Go big or go home right? For me, it would be the Lakra. Isn’t it beautiful! With the little outside shelter too, I could sit in a rocking chair, with a good book curled up under a blanket watching the rain. Which is another of my random favourite things to do.
For me, it would have to be rose gold and copper. My house is full of pastels and greys so my adult escape would be more colourful, yet not too busy. With warm white lighting and gold, cream and copper coloured accessories for the furnishings and copper for the accessories to pull it all together.
The ceiling would be covered in hundreds of tiny LED lights as they threaded their way across the cabin. They would shine their way over a sheer fabric draped loosely around the windows to create a cosy reading nook.
Under the window would be an array of bean bags and floor cushions with a single reading chair you can just get lost in. Like this one from Sofa World. Let’s not forget the throws and blankets to keep me warm too.
With the window creating the backdrop for the reading nook, the focal point of the room, the opposite wall would be home to an array of floating shelves. All ready to proudly display a selection of items including pictures, candles, my beloved quote frames and of course books. Nestled away in the corner would be a fold-down desk. As I love to write, most of my days are spent writing blog posts or creating new stories for the blog. So it would make sense I had a little desk so I could pull out my laptop should the mood take me.
With a small compact space, less is more. And I think the cushions and throws would add to the small cosy feel I am going for here. Best not forget that rocking chair for outside or maybe I should install a swing? Or this love seat perhaps…..
If you could create your adult only space, what would you go for?
