Teenagers can be notoriously hard to buy for. Last year, I feel like Olivia pretty much disliked or didn’t want what I had bought her so this year I have taken to asking her what she wants then keeping the actual item a surprise. I am going with a less is more theme and warned her I am happy to pay out for what she wants as long as she will A) use it and B) understand she will be getting fewer items than previous years. I feel we are both in agreement to my terms this year!

So I thought I would source some Christmas gift ideas for teens for any other parent or family member who may be struggling this year! Don’t forget, if all else fails, cash is a great alternative! (Olivia’s words, not mine!)

*Skincare.

Skincare always makes a great gift for teens. If they are taking more of an interest in looking after their skin, then you can go wrong with a hamper full of products designed for their skin types.T-Zone have a great range of products for all skin types and can help your teen learn how to look after their skin properly.

*Wall Posters.

For teens with an interest in something in particular, whether a favourite band, TV Show or computer game, why not get them something they hang up in their room. This Stars and Constellations map from Maps International £18, is perfect for those interested in astrology. Olivia loves it and it will be heading to her nans where she has a telescope so she can look for the constellations a night.

*Jewellery.

Not just any jewellery. Something that they can treasure over the years and become a sort of memento. A Pandora charm bracelet was a big hit with Olivia for her 13th birthday and makes a great present for teenagers. It also gives friends and family members suggestions for gift ideas as they can buy charms to add to the bracelet for birthdays, Christmases and special occasions. Olivia’s specific bracelet was £55 without charms.

Or how about a name ring? I recently gifted my niece a name ring which is perfect for everyday wear and it a little something special! The Centime Stackable Name Rings are priced from $29.

Experience Days.

All our kid’s love getting gift experiences. There is something a little bit more special about gifting a day out that they will remember. We have done this many a time, but for a teen who is hard to please, an experience day one of the best Christmas gift ideas for teens I have!

Think a young driver experience, a theatre show, a visit to WB Studios for Harry Potter lovers, a concert to name a few. The possibilities are endless but if you get them something they will love, then it really can make the perfect gift!

Subscription Boxes.

Subscription boxes are a great present. Either as a one-off or an ongoing subscription gift. I have gifted a few different ones over the years to Olivia and family members. They always make a great gift especially the longer-term subscriptions. I wonder if Olivia will be finding this fabulous Papergang from Ohh Deer subscription box in her stocking this year? (I totally ordered it for her, a stationery subscription box is high on her list!)

With so many on the market these days, it is easier than ever to find one based on what your teen loves to help you gift them the perfect present this Christmas.

Tech.

Christmas is the perfect time to treat your teen to the tech they have been asking for! Olivia is after some new headphones and is in desperate need of a new laptop to play Sims 4 on and for keeping up with homework. I see this as killing two bird with one stone. They get what they are asking for and you don’t have to think too hard about what presents to buy them!

Obviously, you want to agree on a maximum price per item or total overall budget with them but updating or adding to their technology, whatever it is they are after is a great idea to keep everyone happy this Christmas, don’t you agree! Smaller items such as this mermaid Bluetooth speaker (£15 ASDA) and these music-controlled lights (£5 B&M) will make great stocking fillers too.

Branded Merchandise.

If your teen is anything like ours, they will have some sort of pop culture obsession. For our girls, it is Stranger Things, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Pretty Little Liars.

We received these cute little Harry Potter Itty Bittys from Hallmark earlier in the year and they were a big hit. There is most definitely branded merchandise being gifted this Christmas for most of the kids, not just the teens!
