I had big plans for my blog this year. I was going to be more organised and I was going to grow my readership and followers by building on what I already had. I buckled down and geared the blog to more of a fiction/my writing journey niche with the goal of finding more readers that enjoyed reading this kind of writing on blogs.
I never was a ‘proper’ parenting blogger, nor did I want to be. Others had this down perfectly and excelled at it. This wasn’t my forte, nor where my passion lay for my blog.
But one thing I haven’t utilised as well as I could do is my email list. I have a small number of followers who either have signed up for emails as soon as new posts are published or have signed up for newsletters as and when I push them out. However, I haven’t sent a newsletter for a while now and I know I am wasting my chance to grow and engage with my followers by not doing this.
Last year I ran a series of emails for my fiction series, The Secrets of Saltlake to keep people who were following it updated so they didn’t miss a part. it also included some added extra parts that weren’t featured on the blog!
But with so many people getting so many emails on a daily basis it can be hard to know how to get yours to stand out amongst the inbox clutter.
And I’m not just saying this as a blogger. We can all admit to not opening every single email we receive. Which makes this problem not just limited to me but to every business who sends out emails to past, present and future clients and/or readers.
People have to want to read your emails to open them and if you can’t hook them in before they open your emails chances are they won’t open your email. So how can you increase your chances of sending an email that people will actually open?
