I think at this point in my blogging career, and it is no secret that I tend to spoil Olivia, my nieces and my nephew for birthdays and Christmas. I like to buy them presents they will love, and while my gift game was poor in the past, these days, I spend a lot of time researching sites for the best gift ideas for children to get some great ideas.
A little competitive? Sure, but honestly, I want to know my gift won’t be just looked at and then ends up languishing in the toy box of doom that never gets opened! We’ve all been there. Whether it is hiding the presents or storing ones that don’t get played with or realising the gift you bought wasn’t as great as you thought it was.
But what exactly makes the best gift ideas for children?
Is there even a correct answer for this? I feel like I should have the answer to this by now, but I really don’t. For Christmas 2020, I went off-brand and ordered some simply stunning name hoops for the kids and a fabulous football themed plaque for my nephew. I think they all loved them. Olivia’s is up on the wall; she loves hers. So maybe that can be an idea for you too?

Black Friday sales at the end of November always have amazing deals so hold off on the urge to buy early! Kindles and pads are always on offer then
Have an idea beforehand what you want to buy for people. if you go out with no idea just to look around to see what you can find you might impulse buy which is not a good idea.

I try not to get caught up in that years frenzy of what the top ten best toys are. They’re bound to get sold out and they won’t necessarily want it anyway. I think about what their favourite things to do or watch are, and kind of start from there. I use Google, search boxes on shop websites, compare prices on Amazon and eBay, etc.
Always shop around, don’t buy a product from tbe first place you see it. See if there are any vouchers and offers for signing up to newsletters or being a new customer too
My top tips for buying presents is to think about what that person likes abd is into, maybe they have lost a loved one and a nice photo of the loved one on a mug or in a nice frame would be a good idea, it doesn’t always have to be expensive remember it’s the thought that counts
I find it best to spread my Christmas shopping over several months so not to be stuck having to do it all in December – often there are better bargains available in October and November as well. If you love to shop online then Amazon are pretty much unbeatable for all kinds of different gifts – my sister is really difficult to buy for but I always find something suitable on there for her :o)
Books are always good presents, easy for little ones, once they get older you need to find out what they like or else get a book token.
