4 Ways to Expand Your Horizon

With autumn in the air, it feels like a time of new beginnings. It is time to get organised, make plans and try a few new things. Which is why today we are sharing with you 4 ways to expand your horizons.

Learn something new

When was the last time that you learned something new?

The possibilities are endless with this one. You might want to go big and get that degree that you have always meant to get. Or at the other end of the scale, maybe you will watch a series of YouTube tutorials around a subject that fascinates you. It can be big, it can be expensive, or it could just be a fun treat that revitalises you.

You might want to learn something new that could enhance your career prospects. Perhaps a postgraduate qualification or a financial training course, great additions to your CV and a chance to alter career paths or boost your existing path.

Join a group

Join something, anything you like the sound of, just to try it. Maybe you have had your eye on a new yoga class near you, then go for it. Or perhaps a book club has always appealed to you, then search one out and have fun with it.

Joining a new club or group will probably push you out of your comfort zone, so make it a chance to catch up with a friend at the same time and join together. It means you’ll get together more regularly and have fun trying something new.

Meeting new people, discovering new interests or indulging in your passions can only be good for you.

Travel

We all know that travel broadens our horizons, but it isn’t always an easy one to fit into our everyday lives. Which is why for this one we want to start small.

Travel can be anywhere from the moment that you leave your front door, so where might your travels take you this weekend? Perhaps you have been meaning to check out that country estate near to you or maybe the local forest calls to you, you could crunch the leaves and enjoy the peace and quiet.

If you can go big with this one, then do it! Book that cruise, that round the world trip or winter on the beaches of Tenerife and enjoy every second of it.

Try a ‘yes’ when it would normally be a ‘no’.

We can get in the habit of only doing certain things and staying tightly within our comfort zones. It is only natural, but in order to expand our horizons, we need to do things a little differently.

Take a second before declining opportunities and invitations over the coming weeks. Be impulsive with the odd ‘yes’ and see where it takes you.

We can sometimes allow ourselves to be defined by what we have always done before, but just because you have never been a daredevil, it doesn’t mean you can’t be one and just because you have never been particularly academic, it doesn’t mean you can’t be now. Throw off those preconceptions and open yourself to new possibilities.
