Have you ever thought about pursuing a career in law? If so, you may be familiar with the JD (Juris Doctor), but have you considered doing an LLM? A Master of Law degree offers a wealth of advantages for those looking to broaden their horizons and develop their skills. 

The LLM is an internationally-recognized program, which is particularly popular among international students. The infographic below, which focuses on the LLM course at Southern California University, shows that enrollment numbers have increased significantly. Between 2016 and 2017, the number of students signing up for non-JD programs increased by 25%, while numbers for the non-JD online course rocketed by 53%. 

Gaining an LLM brings several advantages, including openings to work in different countries and the chance to develop skills within a specific area. International students will also learn all about the ins and outs of the US legal system.

Having an LLM opens up a diverse range of opportunities, especially if you plan to travel for work or to relocate after graduating. As you can see from the graphic below, 36% of partners working in non-US and UK firms in 2009 and 2010 had an LLM. It’s particularly common for partners in Paris and Frankfurt to have this kind of qualification.
