How To Cure Snoring
Can you cure snoring? Is that even possible? For the thousands upon of thousands of people who have to put with other peoples snoring on a nightly basis, it would seem the answer is actually no. Well, not easily anyway.
I do snore. Loudly apparently and a lot. I do not deny it and I have on occasions woken myself up due to snoring. It’s all fun and laughs until I have to share a room or a bed with someone else. You see, at home, there is just myself and Olivia and usually, she is fast asleep before I am so doesn’t often complain about my snoring. But my sister does.
If you follow my social media channels, you will notice I spend a lot of my time away from home with my youngest sister. If I am away for a night or a few days, chances are she is with me. This is where my snoring becomes an issue. She can’t sleep because of me and I get a restless nights sleep because I am conscious I am snoring and keep waking myself up. I’m not going to lie, there have been many a night where I have genuinely feared for my safety due to keeping her awake.
Recently we stayed at The Pullman in Liverpool and I was panicking big time.

Do any of the over the counter remedies work? Or is the only thing they are good for is separating you from your money? After reading a few articles on how to cure snoring, I decided on an anti snore pillow and some Olbas Oil. Sprays, foams, strips and the like, didn’t seem to fare well in any of the reviews I read at all. Only I couldn’t get a pillow on such short notice so I was armed only with my Olbas Oil -I seriously use it for everything and the mercy of my sister. Would I be OK?
Was That Enough To Cure My Snoring?
It seems not and neither of us got much sleep at all. I now have until May when we stay over in Manchester to see Michael Buble, to sort it out. But what exactly can I do to help with snoring? It seems the below options are my best choices.
- No alcohol (it makes no difference to me as I only drink once a week and I will be drinking in Manchester)
- Lose Weight – a good motivator to save my life if ever I needed one
- Change my lifestyle – more exercise and fresh air
- Olbas Oil to clear airways – not helpful for heavy snorers
- Avoid smokers (I don’t smoke)
- Not eating too late of an evening.
There is no easy way around it, to cure or even ease my snoring I need to implement some changes now ready for May. It is doable but is that all I can do? I asked some fellow bloggers how they deal with snoring whether from their partners or from themselves. Because the best people to get advice from are those who have or are living with it don’t you think!

Lots of ideas, there. It’s always worth getting checked over by your GP, and I think you can buy knee pillows that strap to your leg, if you’re helped by the tip above about sleeping on your side. They’d be harder to push away in your sleep. I hope you find something that works for you.
I snore badly but luckily my wife is a deep sleeper – a match made in heaven 🙂
I hate to say it but I am a snorer and my poor boyfriend has to put up with it! He wears ear plugs 🙂
I don’t have any idea how to stop snoring. However, as someone married to a heavy snorer, I can offer some advice to your sister: wear earplugs. Not those flimsy foam ones they give you on planes, or even those weird ridged plastic ones used for swimming. She needs silicon earplugs, or, if you can’t find silicon, pure wax earplugs (they usually come wrapped in cotton wool, which you remove before using the earplugs). Push the earplugs very deep into the ears (don’t worry, they won’t get lost) and you will find the noise considerably reduced.
