Working Out with Simply Be
Let’s talk sports wear……………. what do you wear to work out? I have these black baggy three quarter Reebok tracksuit bottoms with a drawstring waist and an oversized pink Adidas vest tee. The baggier the better as far as I’m concerned. I often stand in my Zumba class and secretly wish I could wear the form fitting vests and capris in pretty patterns like the other girls.
My issue is my round tummy. It’s where I carry all my weight and I am really self conscious about how my body moves when I am working out so I always tend to opt for looser fitting clothes so I feel more comfortable. Especially during Zumba classes, that’s definitely the place to get my wobbly bits wobbling more than usual!
I have always wanted to be able to wear sports leggings but shied away as they usually don’t come with a drawstring tie waist. Ones I have had in the past don’t sit quite right and I spend all my time rolling them back up to were they should be. So not a good look is it! But then I tried Simply Be Plus Size Sports Leggings.
Working Out with Simply Be.
I own many pairs of Simply Be leggings anyway and when I first found them they were a revelation, my first proper pair of plus size leggings. No more Primark for me from now on. I was curious to see if the plus size sports leggings were the same. Could they withstand an energetic 10 minute HIIT workout without me having to stop to make sure my behind doesn’t become exposed to my poor neighbours out the kitchen window!
With a nice high fit and a thick waistband, the Simply Be Plus Size Sports Leggings felt comfortable and secure. Covering the whole roundness of my midriff, the waistband hugged my body and more importantly stayed put during the dreaded burpees. Oh how they make me cry, worst thing ever but not made slightly worse by the expected wardrobe malfunction that never happened. They sat nice and snug and the extra support of the waistband made me feel supported and comfortable. They also look the part too and look just as good in the gym or to wear out and about if you don’t have time to get changed or you are simply after good comfortable plus size leggings.
To complete the look I went for my signature workout style of a sleeveless tee. I get far too hot working out and can’t bear anything on my arms. They are one of the places I don’t mind having on show. I also need it to be loose fitting for aforementioned reasons. It also needs to be able to fully cover my industrial size sports bra. I hate having it on show and the low scoop neck of my Adidas one didn’t fit with support underwear.
This white and black ‘You Can’t Stop Me’ slogan tee with a drawstring on the bottom ticked all the boxes. I’m not usually one for a slogan tee but I liked the look of this one. It wears as well as it looks. It is a great fit, oversized on me in a size 18. I can use the drawstring to adjust it to alter the fit and look depending on where I am wearing it. I would feel more than comfortable wearing this as a day to day outfit or as my workout /I was supposed to workout after the school run but I didn’t and have sat in this all day outfit. It is quite thin material but the slogan on the front makes sure it isn’t too revealing.
Label Be Full length Leggings size 16 now £12, Longline Logo Vest size 18 £10, Gola Solar Trainers my own also from Simply Be £34.
To change it up I also have the Label Be Loose Fit Tee size 18 in Charcoal Marl. A thicker tee with capped sleeves this top is so comfy and again brilliant for the gym or just as casual wear. Again with a drawstring at the bottom this top can be adjusted. Whilst I probably wouldn’t wear this to a Zumba class or high intensity workout this is perfect for Yoga or a more low intensity exercise.
Label Be Loose Fit Tee size 18 £12, leggings and trainers as above.
What do you think? Good picks for a new workout wardrobe? I think so. Practical, functional and stylish all in 3 pieces. Also a first for me to actually feel comfortable about my workout clothes. Thanks to Simply Be I now have proper plus size exercise outfits that look good. Have you checked out their sportswear range? What would you pick?
