Happy Aunties Day: The Xmas Edition

I don’t know if you remember but earlier in the year I shared with you Olivia’s tradition of making up little gift bags for her aunties every Mothers Day. From an innocent question out of the mouth of a 4 year old a new tradition was born. Every Mother’s Day and every Christmas I help Olivia create some small and considerate gift bags filled with goodies tailored to each one of my sisters.

This week I picked up the bags to start us off and Olivia picked up some little bits on our recent trip to Asda. She likes to have full control of what goes inside and as she has gotten older I have learnt to make sure she is with me. I love that she has this special thing she can do that is hers alone and her aunties look forward to them every year. I like to send them a teaser picture as they are genuinely excited to see what she has picked every year. I personally think it’s more to do with the sweets inside but some times I have to admit to wanting one for myself too!

So what’s in the bag?

We stick to a little set of rules for these bags and they tend to be the same with a small tailored gift for each sister.

  1. Use a perfume sized bag.
  2. No more than £5 per gift per bag.
  3. It has to be small enough to fit in the bag.
  4. Must include sweets.
  5. And possibly confetti

That is it. Pretty easy really. This year we picked up some nSpa goodies in Asda and on 3 for £10 it came in under budget. This leaves us a little bit for our tailored gift, usually candles, bubble bath etc. so I have £5 left for this and it looks like I may go slightly over my budget this year.

The nSpa goodies came in sets of body sprays, body butters and bath and shower gel. We split the packs and matched all the fragrances up and Olivia chose the ones she thinks each auntie would like. There is also a hot chocolate stirrer with a cute little gingerbread man to eat with the drink. As well as the extra personal gift the bag will be choc full of all kinds of sweets and Xmas chocolates too. If it can fit in it will go in, and then hidden so I don’t eat them all!

What do you think of our Xmas aunties bags? Do you have anything similar you do with your family or have you tried out this idea for family and friends? Or would you like to receive one of your own? If you do then read on……….

With our nSpa goodies coming in sets of 4 I thought why not make up another bag to give away on here! You don’t mind do you? All you have to do is to is to tweet the tweet in the Gleam Widget and/or like a picture on Instagram that is all!

T’s & C’s: This competition is open to UK mainland only. you must be over 16 to enter and to win you must have fully completed at least one of the Gleam options. No account following is required but is appreciated if you do. The prize is what is shown in the picture and will be posted out by myself in time for Christmas. The winner will be emailed within 5 days of the competition end and must respond to acknowledge the win. Receiving the prize in time for Christmas is dependant on the winner replying as soon as possible. If no acknowledgment is received a new winner will be picked after 28 days. Good Luck!

My daughter does something similar for her friends . her allowance is limited and she buys multipacks of things so each bag gets the same. if she buys four packs of things costing a pound per multipack and a pack of three bags for a £1 she can produce a decent bag of gifts for three friends for £5 for the lot and it looks like it costs much more.
