The Christmas Tag

merry christmas decoration on a tree

It feels like it’s been so long since I have written anything for me that wasn’t a review or a post I have been paid to write. As much as I love doing these it’s so nice to write a post just for me. So being tagged in the Christmas tag by the gorgeous Cassie from Gorgeous George’s Mama was the perfect excuse to write something different. Plus her questions look like fun! So without further ado, and a big thanks to Cassie for the tag – you can read her post here. Here we go!

The Christmas Tag | One Frazzled Mum

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

It has to be Elf. No, The Santa Clause. Argh it is most definitely one of those but I can’t choose!

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

So, I have vague recollections of it snowing on my eldest niece’s first Christmas in 2004. Only a sprinkling but I remember standing in the back yard of my aunties then house, saying to E “look beautiful it’s snowing for your first Christmas” I’m not sure if that counts or not but that is all I can remember anyway.

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

At home with my mum, sisters and all our kids. We are usually in one of my sisters’ house, the one who has the biggest house for Christmas Day then at my mums for Boxing Day. We are lucky we all live within walking distance of each other so there isn’t too far to travel at all.

What’s your favourite Christmas song?

Mariah Carey All I want For Christmas hands down best Christmas song ever!

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

No we don’t open presents, we do have Christmas Eve Boxes though.

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

erm….. Rudolph, Donner, Blitzen, Prancer, Dasher, apparently not no!

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

The same as always. Giving my sister’s their gift bags, it’s Olivia’s favourite part and just spending time with all the family at once, especially the kids.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake all the way!

What’s your favourite holiday food/sweet/treat?

The toffee fingers and toffee penny in Quality Street. I know you can buy them all year round but they really are a Christmas favourite of mine

Be honest, do you prefer the giving or receiving of gifts?

Giving most definitely

What’s the best Christmas present you ever received?

Oh, I don’t actually know, this is a hard one! I am going to have to say a kindle fire. When they very first came out, I really wanted one and was so excited I don’t think I put it down for months.

What’s your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Honestly, I’m not sure I would ever want to go away over Christmas at all. My mum keeps threatening to do it as we all spend far too much money, but honestly I don’t think any of us ever would.

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

Fail miserably every time! Olivia actually wrapped all the family gifts this year for me and I only wrapped hers. She is already so much better at it than I am.

Most memorable Christmas memory?

There are so many. But one that does stick out is one year my sister, whose house we were spending Christmas day at, for some reason took issue with me and my mum and the amount of vodka we had drunk. It was about 8 pm at night and it had been open all afternoon so it’s not like we were drinking it as fast as we could. So we hid the bottle down the side of the sofa and snuck a top up when she wasn’t looking. I just remember us finding it absolutely hysterical at the time. She’s eased off on us now but that always sticks in my memory. I’m aware it makes us sound like raging alcoholics but honestly I’m not sure we even finished the bottle that year!

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

I have no idea I can’t remember. But my 2 youngest sisters found out when me and another sister tried creeping up the stairs with their stockings and they were still awake. Totally busted there we were!

What makes the holidays special for you?

These days, it’s the kids. I love how magical it is for them and they are just so happy and excitable it’s hard not to get caught up in all the excitement really. It’s just really lovely to see and be a part of.

So this is the point where I tag others to join in, but with it being so close to Christmas and most people already having taken part, I’m going to leave it open. If you would like to join in, grab the questions below and let me know when your post is live.
