You may of seen of late all my moaning over twitter (and some blog posts) that I have gone back to work full time and I am so busy and permanently tired! As much as I love my job I love Olivia more, all together now ahhhhhh!
So needless to say I think I am struggling more with this than she is especially now I have filled up her days with new extra curricular activities, you can read about my plan in this post.
So with my having a rare Sunday off, whoop, and Olivia being at her dads I decided I was going to use my time wisely, not to waste a single second I had lots planned for my time alone!
I had a lie in!!!!!! For those of you who don’t know or have forgotten, a lie in is when you don’t have to set an alarm or have anyone at home who is likely to wake you up pre dawn! Yes it is as blissful as it sounds! After getting in from work I didn’t fall asleep until 1.30am and not waking up till 10:15 was just heaven it really was.
I treated myself to a morning workout, mowed the lawn and got my footspa out! I dyed my eye lashes, buffed my nails, gave myself a manicure and plucked my eyebrows. You could say these things have been somewhat neglected of late too.
Then I decided I wanted to pick Olivia up from her dads early today and actually spend some time with her that didn’t involve pre school activities, showering or the like.
My initial plan was to go to KFC but when we jumped on the bus we decided we wanted to go to New Brighton. Having had a massive image overhaul in recent years New Brighton has been transformed from a ‘past it’s sell by date former seaside town’ to a thriving busy place to spend the day with shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and more it was the perfect day to spend a late Summers day to soak up some September sunshine.
I also made the choice to not take my mobile phone with me that way we would have no distractions just the two of us actually spending time together.
It was so nice just chatting. We talked about all kinds, school, gymnastics, friends, upcoming family birthdays.
We ate overlooking the River Mersey, strolled along the promenade, and just relaxed. Olivia decided she wanted to see a film so we popped on to our local Light Cinema to watch the Box Trolls. A surprisingly good film we both really enjoyed it.
Our day out ended with us having chippy chips, ‘coz no trip to a seaside town is complete if you don’t eat chippy chips on the prom! Then we hopped on the bus home.
The best thing about today was having no phone, no distractions and I know Olivia enjoyed not having to keep posing for pictures all day. When I told her I might blog about today she actually said “but mum you can’t you didn’t take any blogging pictures!” Well this post is going to have to be all words because not everything revolves around social media and our online activities does it!
So apologies for my lack of pictures but it was totally worth it!
