OneSixEight Online Personal Trainer

Since going back to work full time I haven’t really had time for well, pretty much absolutely everything else. It’s quite the juggling act trying to squeeze everything else in and naturally some things are sacrificed for others, like sleep, eating sitting down, social life and of course exercise. Bye bye gym, swimming, classes. Being single mum this is particularly hard as Olivia has to stay out so I can work late nights I have had to sacrifice a lot of what I enjoyed to be able to spend more time with her. I’m not complaining at all but I really was starting to miss the exercise part of my life. Although I didn’t do it all too often it was nice to be able to go to the odd aqua aerobics class or nip the pool for a swim.

What I really needed was someone at home to force me to do the things I would of done in the gym or at a class, not the aqua class obvs can you imagine donning my swimming costume, filling up the bath and jumping round to some crazy zumba tunes! Err no thanks.

Then on twitter I can across a status that literally read my mind. What I needed was an at home on line personal trainer! Perfect just perfect. Workouts tailored to me and my of fitness, or lack of. Workouts that could be done in minimal time with maximum results courtesy of a qualified instructor. A workout for the time poor, concentrating on what parts of your body you want to improve on. This could be the answer to my prayers.

onesixeight: fitness were offering a 4 week trial. All the benefits of being a fully fledged member to get the full experience of what it was like to be using an online personal trainer.

First you get an in-depth phone call with your PT so they have a full idea of you, your body, injuries, ailments, conditions that might affect your workout, the areas you want to work on and what it is you want to gain from the experience. For me I wanted to increase strength and stamina to be able to keep up at work and tone up on the dreaded tummy area.

As I didn’t have a lot of spare time for me it was important that I got maximum results with targeted workouts in a short amount of time.

Becky devised me a routine lasting 20 minutes on the information I gave her and I was excited to log on and see what she had in store for me.

All you workouts are held on the site in your own personal members area and this is where you access your weekly video. At the top of your page so you can’t miss it is your workout tailored to you ready to go when you are. For me that was one of my favourite features, being able to workout when I chose to. Any time day or night whenever you were free. I aimed to do at least 3 workouts a week and do you know what! I did it. I gave Becky an outline of the days I planned to workout but nothing was set in stone and she was there with encouragement and motivation in the members chat rooms or on twitter. Missed a workout? Not feeling up to it? It’s easy to do when you are doing it at home and on your own isn’t it. What is there for motivation, to push me? The online PT service offers follow up calls depending on your chosen membership package, that person you would expect from a face to face PT calling you, keeping in touch making sure you are doing well what you are paying for coz lets face it, you are paying for this service and they want to make sure you are getting the most out of it from their end too with constant support.

So does it work? Well yes like anything you have to put the effort in to get what you want from it. There is only so much they can do for you if you aren’t helping yourself. Now I did lose track of my trial due to internet/laptop issues but I persevered doing the exercises from memory squeezing some in around running baths/ showers, before bed, planks while waiting for the kettle to boil! No seriously I did, I lived in my trusty Shock Absorber bra. Every little helps as Tesco’s say and it sure did. Put in the work and you will reap the rewards.

What were my rewards? Well…. Dum, Dum, Dummmmm….. I lost …. 8lb

  • From 13st 13lb to 13st 5lb!!!!!!
  • I lost 2 inches from my waist
  • 1.5in from chest
  • 1in from biceps
  • 2in from my hips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing I can now fit into my size 18 work shirt comfortably, I am wearing my size 14 work trousers and I feel so much better now I have some exercise back in my life. I am currently at 13st 3lb and hope to be getting under the 13st mark sometime soon. I can totally recommend this service for those of you who like to be doing their exercise from home whether you’re a pro or total beginner.

  1. Wow I really love the sound of this. I always say I'd love a personal trainer but wouldn't want to have to actually see them in person!! What a fab idea- and well done you! x x x

  2. Well done!! I run but with the weather turning wet and wild I have been debating joining a gym. This might be worth a try on the trial. Great review #triedtested

  3. It does sound like a great idea and you are proof it works, but I'd probably be watching the online vid with a cream cake in my hand…no will power!

  7. I really need to exercise more, but being a full time Mum, working from home I rarely get 5 minutes to myself, so this would be ideal! The only thing that puts me off is the price!

Thank you for linking up with the #WeekendBlogHop
