5 Tips for Making the Most of your Garden.
It’s no secret that I have wanted to overhaul my garden for some time now. I have so many things I would like to do, but clauses restrict me in my tenancy agreement. Notably, anything I do has to be reversed should I move home. It isn’t a large garden as such, but it is big enough to be able to do something nice with it.
As we have no parking outside our homes, part of our gardens serves as a driveway to bring our cars into our back gardens. This is something I used to do when I first moved in, but the process of opening up alley gates, moving bins/dumped items etc., then leaving my gates wide open whilst I reversed down became a bit of a chore. These days I leave the car on a side road close to my house.
It can be hard to know what to do for the best with my part concrete – part grass/paved back garden. I have recently invested in a new lawnmower to keep it neat and tidy for this year at least intending to possibly lay artificial turf this summer and find a way of keeping the weeds/grass from growing in between the paving stones. It is a bigger job than I wanted it to be, but this summer, I plan to make a start on finally changing my outdoor space into something I want to spend time in.
If you too are unsure or even unable to make significant changes to your garden space like me. I have a few ideas of things you can try to implement a new look and feel without breaking the budget or making irreversible changes.
5 Tips for Making the Most of your Garden.
Lawn

This is something I struggle with a lot. My lawn is uneven with weeds growing all over it despite using safe lawn weedkillers over the years. My top tip for this is really to maintain the grass regularly by making sure it is cut and kept short and manageable. I always find the first couple of cuts of the year the worst then it is a quick 5-minute job once a week/fortnight depending on the weather.
If you want to get rid of the grass and create a fully paved garden area, there are plenty of options to choose from to help you make an outdoor space that is perfect for your home. Should you want it fully paved or partially paved you are spoilt for choice for designs and styles when it comes to making the most of your garden.
Plants.

I am not green-fingered but at this time of year (April – June) is prime bedding plant season. Maybe you could teach yourself a new skill and learn how to create a beautiful bloomin’ garden abundant with colourful flowers and plants. If you decide this isn’t for you, why not look at some carefully placed pots and hanging baskets. You can buy these ready-mades or make them up yourself. This way you get to keep your garden clear and still enjoy the beauty that flowers can bring to your home.
Flowers are a great way of making the most of your garden.
Alternatively, you could plant trees in your garden too. you can then enjoy watching them grow year after year whilst also doing your bit to help the planet. https://www.thelocaltreeexperts.com/wa/edmonds/can help you to look after your trees responsibly and extend their life span
Ornaments.
If plants aren’t your thing, what about decorating your garden with some ornaments? Just like you decorate the inside of your home, follow your theme through to your garden. Whether you want a sophisticated style to relax in outside with minimalist features and a colour scheme, or you want to turn your garden into something colourful and vibrant. There are many places these days online or on the high street where you can find ornaments and accessories to brighten up your garden and transform them quickly and easily without making any significant changes.
Lighting.

I love being able to spend more time outside in the summer months, but when the sun does finally start to set, you want something to bring some light into your garden. Choosing some functional yet decorative lighting is a must, and even if it is too cold or wet to be outside, you can still enjoy the ambience great outdoor lighting can add to your garden.
Furniture.

Some garden furniture is a must. To help you relax and enjoy your garden you need some furniture to compliment it. Whether you choose a dining set big enough for the whole family, a hammock for garden or some outdoor furniture to relax on, getting the right pieces for your style needn’t be hard or budget-busting.
I have a small four-seater glass table with parasol so Olivia and I can sit outside when it is nice and enjoy some al-fresco dining.
What is the best way you have found when it comes to making the most of your garden or outdoor space?

Good to keep in mind, have a rather large garden. Thanks.
Good ideas, thank you. The garden can be a very versatile space, but of course that means you can get overwhelmed by choice! I like a wildlife garden; they’re usually easier to maintain, as well as good for the environment, and with a bit of planning can be made quite tidy.
