I am no expert at make-up. There is no way I could be a beauty blogger, you will never see a ‘how I apply my make-up’ vlog over there on YouTube, nuh-uh, no chance. In fact you could go as far to say I am actually quite lazy in that department. Slap a bit of foundation on, eyeliner, mascara and the job’s a gud ‘un.
Oh the horror………….
The thing is apart from being bad at applying it, I also am not very clued up as to what foundation shade is right for me and at the ripe old age of 33 I think that is quite shocking don’t you!
I mean, I’m not the type to walk on into my local Superdrug and be messing about with lots of different foundation samples but last week I felt I really needed to and let me tell you why…..
My current foundation was about 3 shades too dark.
It was too thick for my dry skin, making my skin look flaky.
It didn’t cover any of my imperfections least not my rosy cheeks and…….
I just didn’t like it!

So I done it. I marched right on into Superdrug in Liverpool 1 and started messing about with samples. All good and well except……well I didn’t exactly know what the heck I was looking for! But lucky for me one of the staff seen my poor bewildered face and took pity on the weird old lady with 10 foundation smears on her hand and took me under her wing.
She was soooooo nice and really helpful. As well as my super crappy dry skin, especially around the nose and forehead, I have cool undertones (who knew!) and needed a foundation that was paler than I was used to using with pink not yellow base (I think that’s the correct term?). So now I knew the colour I needed I just needed to find one that a) didn’t dry out my skin and b) gave me full coverage to even out my skin tone. I was starting to feel defeated if I am being totally honest, could anything really do this, are miracles real? You can see my dilemma can’t you!
Anyway to cut a long story short, well a 20 minute ‘consultation’ so to speak, I kid you not! It turned out she was actually a miracle worker. Not only did I find my new shade, Rose Ivory, but a brand spanking new foundation courtesy of of Superdrug’s B range. Woop, Woop!
This is my little Superdrug haul from this visit and I won’t even tell you what is in my online basket! I am accumulating BeautyCard points ridiculously quick these days I think I may have a problem! Superdrug Anonymous anyone……..
|My recent mini Superdrug Haul|
I absolutely love Superdrug, as you can tell, especially their own brand products. Have you tried any of their own brand products? What do you think of them? Keep an eye for my review on the B. foundation and primer in this post.
