Eye Spy with my little Eye………..

If you are squeamish you may not want to read on! My Little Eye is causing a whole load of problems of late.

Back in February, I went for a routine appointment to pick up my new set of contact lenses. I was having blurred vision through one giving me what felt like double vision at times. Upon casually mentioning this my optician launched into full on eye test mode just to be safe.

Half an hour later, and one seriously restless and hungry Olivia I sat back down to look at the pictures of my eye with the optician. But hold on, what on earth where these marks? She was just as confused as me.

They are scars on my eyeball, she explained nothing to worry about but……..

Well, they have never been spotted before. But they have the appearance of scars that have been there for a very long time! Confused? Yeah me too, how could they have been there yet no one noticed? I’ve only been wearing glasses since I was 13 so there are only nearly 20 years of eye tests obviously nothing serious right!

Wrong!

Less than 3 weeks later I woke up with the most horrendous pain in my eye, sensitive to light and unable to open fully I dropped Olivia off at school and made my way back to the opticians.

The main man was in (owner of practice) and he rushed me straight in and was horrified. I hadn’t had my lenses in the day before yet it only started when I woke up that day. So that wasn’t the issue. Panicked and throwing words around like cellulitis and ulcer he instructed the receptionists to get me an emergency appointment at the local ophthalmologist department at the hospital. Then he sent me on my way with instructions to get back in touch as soon as I knew what was going on.

At the hospital, after very thorough checks, it was declared a serious infection resulting in my having to put drops in every 3 hours. It made cashing up very interesting that night trust me!

A few weeks later I went back to the opticians for a follow-up appointment after the hospital declared I was good to go back to wearing lenses. We had another little look at the scars to check out of curiosity really. This threw up more confusing results and more frustratingly no idea as to the cause or exactly what they were.

Can you see what has happened? They have become more blurry very quickly as if going from separate dots to one huge blur again. More confusion here what on earth is going on with my eyes?

Back To The Hospital.

But, the drama wasn’t over with another fun surprise awaiting me. One morning not so long ago I woke up with distorted vision in one eye, my left eye! You know like when you look into a bright light and your vision goes a bit funny? Kind of like that but it just wouldn’t go. I was starting to get a worried at this point, I mean within a few months of finding these scars on my eye I was having all kinds of issues with that exact eye! The drama queen inside me was going into

The drama queen inside me was going into full-on meltdown mode, I’m losing my sight (I can still see perfectly), my eye is going to fall out (seriously!), I just went on and on until I finally got an appointment back at the hospital.

The issue was an imperfection in the back of my eyeball no biggie! No biggie, seriously, I mean it would never go away. It would never get better and there was no treatment for it. But nothing to worry about they said! No, it’s not for you COZ IT’S MY EYE NOT YOUR’S! I was not happy with this in case you hadn’t noticed. But hey things could be worse I still had my sight for now (still convinced it was the beginning of the end)

How Are Things Now with my Little Eye?

But bringing you up to speed I haven’t had any issues lately, touch wood. I am allowed to wear my lenses again. Woohoo! I will keep you updated with any future issues but for now, fingers crossed that my eye dramas are over and the scars or whatever they may be stay as they are unchanging and without causing issues, we are still not sure if they were the cause of my issues or just a big coincidence!

  1. Eyesight is always a sensitive issue for me. Both my parents wore them but my mother is almost blind now. Shes got something in her eyes that she doesnt want to be check since like forever. I am having a hard time seeing with my current contact lens now and I probably need to go up again with my grade but I dont really have budget at the moment so I am just using old glasses that prolly is not good enough. I can understand where you are coming from with this entry #sharewithme

  2. Rather weirdly I saw my eye pic the other day and it was really quite an odd feeling. It is amazing what the optician can tell about you just from the picture. For example one of my capillaries in my eyeball showed up as a really wobbly line – and she asked if I had had a recent (within the past year)period of high blood pressure or tension (which I had). I hope your eye problems have settled now.

  3. Wow those pictures are amazing. Technology amazes me yet leaves me perplexed too that they can't figure out what's wrong or what happened to your poor eye. Bless you I don't blame you. I would have gone into over drive melt down! Your eyes are so important and so is your sight. WOW you are brave. Glad you haven't had any trouble since bless you. Hope some day you get answers. For now I will just call you scarry eyes!!! lol jks. Thanks for linking up another fab post to Share With Me. #sharewithme
