You may have seen recently across my socials that I have been championing small businesses and supporting them wherever I can. I work for a small business. My boss owns our shop, and there are fewer than 5 people who work there. Our shop supports my boss’ family and helps him to put a roof over his family head and food n the table as it does with mine.

So making sure we all know how important it is to shop local means that we can support those people who are out there every day, bringing their business and skills to the country and supporting their own dreams and families every day. Even if we all commit to making one extra purchase from a small business this year, we can help support so many people and do our best to ensure they are still around for us when the world finally starts getting back to normal after the pandemic.

Supporting Small Businesses This Christmas.

I have rounded up a few small businesses to support this year. I know there are many thousands more but hopefully, these ideas can help you to find similar companies to reach out to and support this Christmas.

Please try to order as early as possible to allow for time to create your item and have it shipped to arrive before Christmas.

Ellie Ellie.

I recently purchased my reverse advent calendar from Ellie Ellie. There are so many lovely gifts to choose from you can be sure to find some special for someone this year. I especially love these Soul Sister mugs, £19 for the set of two mugs.

Beaumont Lane

I found Beaumont Lane on Etsy. Your go-to site for all things crafty and personal. I ordered Olivia this stunning hoop for Christmas and then went back and ordered more hoops for my niece’s and a custom plaque for my nephew. Liv is super nice and helpful, and I think her last order dates for Christmas is 18th November so be quick! Hoops come in at various prices and sizes. The specific ones I ordered start from £17.50.

Love Leggings*

I feature Love Leggings all the time, and that is because we always need a good pair of leggings that will see us through the year. This year, I have been gifted a pair of olive green 7/8s in the sports leggings. They are comfortable and supportive; we have yet to be disappointed with a pair of leggings from Love Leggings. £28.

Who doesn’t want am money tree? I purchased these for my aunties bags from a small shop based in the Albert Dock in Liverpool. While it doesn’t actually grow money, it is a lovely ornament and good luck symbol to have in the home. For my regular social media followers, you will all know about my obsession with Scents of Glamour. Started by one of our long time family friends along with a friend of hers, Jess and Ema run Scents of Glamour making wax melts in various fragrances by hand. I have ordered so much from them for myself and for gifts for this year (I even won two raffles with them too) They offer free local delivery in Wirral or can post out to those further afield.

Ordering speciality foodstuffs from your local sweet shop, bakers and cake makers can help you to deliver some love this Christmas to small businesses in your local area and your family and friends too. We all know things will be a little bit different this year for Christmas, but a well-timed delivery of foodstuff will always be a welcome gift. Connect via Facebook pages, local selling groups or ask around family and friends for their recommendations.

Adopt an Animal.

Support your local charities this year by adopting or sponsoring a pet. If you aren’t looking to add a pet to your family this year, then sponsoring an animal is a great alternative. Miracles Mission is one such non-profit that is asking people to donate to feed a cat or a dog Christmas dinner or buy them a toy for £5 each. This will make al lovely little stocking filler for those wanting to do some good this year and support animals who need it all over the world.

There are so many toymakers in the UK who specialise in creating well crafted, made to last toys for children. These wooden toys from Best Years are brilliant and make great gifts. You can also buy organics soft baby toys and knitted rattles and dinosaurs.
